Y’all keep asking, but the answer is obvious:

Cammisa’s latest video over at Hagerty is a pretty good look at VW in America. Pretty sure he’s right too. VW needs something that isn’t a nameless blob to sell to Americans. Has nothing to do with their electrification efforts per se, they just seem to make boring crap all the time. One could argue that they were

I don’t think they’ll be the same size... the Scout might be a chonker if the size of the bed is an indication.  I’m thinking it’s Lightning-sized.

Ohhh... I forgot about that.

It’s not the Pinto or Mustang II. Not by a long shot. That’s just feeding urban legends.

The miles aren’t really a problem. People think they are, but they’re thinking like this is a Neon or something.

This has been a relatively big problem on Toronto’s highways. It’s calmed in recent years as the number of dash cams rise, but they are still more frequent than you’d like.

With care, you could get another 100k out of this.  $8k for 100k of travel is pretty reasonable.  It’s even better considering the capability and (apparent) condition.  NP.

There are rules governing the boarding process, but there is always passengers who try and skip the line.

Do they look like Rivian? Or just me?

Have to admit... that original conversation was way more reasoned that I expected it to be.

I guess you’ll never buy an EV then.  That’s ok.

Kyle’s price of a buck sounds about right. For 99.999% of people, this has absolutely no value and should not be purchased. For that 0.001%? It’s a curiosity that should probably land in an EV museum or similar. It should not be $4k. A price with three digits makes more sense (I’ll leave that to the universe to decide

Wow. I had pretty much this exact car as a rental upgrade WAY back in the day. It was easily one of the best rental cars I’ve ever had...and was perfect for a Nova Scotia snow storm. Way better than the Cavalier they wanted to give me originally. Since then, I’ve thought of buying a Volvo wagon a lot, and here’s the

Nah... it’s right on time.  From VW’s perspective, they actually have a car with some emotion behind it again, and the buyers will be the ones that had family members with New Beetles or Eurovans 20 years ago.  They might not have been able to afford a Beetle when it came out, but they can afford the bus now.

I really like the 1-Series. These are roomy too… so for folks who think they’re too tall for a Miata, this is a legit option. It’s just…an old BMW with 140k miles.  That’s pretty near the top of my “do not buy under any circumstances” list. ND.

This is how the price of cars stays high.

AKA “crap that people don’t want to buy” now has money on the hood to move inventory.

That’s stupid.

I really want to move to a Rivian.  I think I’m waiting on the R3, but I just love the R1T. It’s just soooo expensive.  Every once in a while I think “wouldn’t a car that can do anything I’d ever ask of it be worth the money?”  Then my wallet calls me a dumbass.
