Gen 1 is certainly not nearly as refined as the cars that followed. I think that’s what is likely to make it special ...eventually. It’s completely bonkers and unlike any non-concept roadster that’s been made. It’ll be an automotive unicorn with a price to match eventually (for a domestic anyway).

It’s about fucking time.

You’ve already got the correct answer: weight. I’ll add in a real-life example.

I’m a little surprised that they haven’t gone up in value yet. Maybe when it’s clear that there won’t even be V8 sports cars without some form of mild hybridization anymore, people will start looking for bonkers V10 sports cars that want to kill you.

For $4k, this is an easy NP.  Just get the transmission thoroughly checked out before buying.  The auto in this generation of Acuras turns BAD if left unmaintained.  They’re fine if they have regular maintenance, and change out auto trans fluid, but hell if they’re not.

Not to mention they have fewer gigantic full-size pickups going that fast.

No, don’t. The chances that it will update fast enough to be useful enough to warrant the huge cost is super slim. And it’s a HUGE cost - it’s simply too much data to hand over. IMO, it’s a data grab by Google, using a popular fear tactic to make it seem worthwhile.

Maybe a combination of two methods?  Salt them first, then cook slowly over medium heat.  I get really creamy scrambled eggs without adding any milk.  Now I kinda want to make eggs.

I’m sure it would have stayed if there was a business case for it.

There’s a part of me that looked at this and thought it would be hilarious as an EV conversion. But just like the restomod crowd, the price of entry would really need to be lower. As is, I have pretty close to zero interest in a 75 year old car. ND.

Yeah.

Americans seem to want safe rooms instead of sanity around guns, so this makes sense.  Why do something science-y when you can blow shit up?

When I was younger, cable was $50 a month... and that was a fancy pants subscription because most of my friends had the plebeian $30 plan and my parent didn’t know how to save money.

Maybe banning tiktok wouldn’t be so bad...

This is one of the cars that I have an irrational love for. Less irrational than the E60 M5, because I know that car will bankrupt me. This one will likely only be pricey. Good news is that the known problems can be repaired, and with better parts that shouldn’t  fail again.  The seller really should part out the

This is a really good summary of how fucked we are. And for the record, everything in here applies to Canada as well. Just add an extra helping of “I need a pickup with huge range to get to Starbucks” and a much larger helping of “I’m waiting on a small car EV.”

First Gear: I’ve had a thought for a while: BYD is one of the planet’s biggest EV makers, but really has no marketability outside of China. One way for them to get into North America could be to buy their way in. Maybe there’s a partnership, maybe BYD could buy Tesla’s vehicle business leaving Tesla to build a global

Or... work colleague did the googling, and Zoom sells meeting connections to advertisers.

To be clear: this isn’t new. It’s just getting easier.

I like it…almost a lot.  But the mileage is the main sticking point. This is a turbo, so the head gasket isn’t an issue.  Even with that out of the way, are these high mileage cars?  I’ve seen them get past 200k, but can’t recall too many past that.  Maybe there are significantly fewer turbos on the road and the  head
