I absolutely love Fergus and they cast him perfectly but you are right that book was hard. I’ve read them all bit that one went slowly.

I like the kid, and it was a huge win, but this is a bit much. The difference between Rossi and Hildebrand? Turn 4, lap 200. That is the difference between the “next American Racing hero” and a journeyman who is able to fund an annual Indy one off.

Big fan of organizations like “Be the Light”, but I wish the CEO used better language.

Another heartbreaking detail:

“sleep with?”

Glenfinnan. It’s where the 1745 Jacobite Rising started with Bonnie Prince Charlie arriving there. We should see it in Outlander eventually. And yes, the Hogwarth Express run on that bridge in the first Harry Potter. This pic has been my screensaver for a few years. Dreamy.

At times, Midwestern white trash is worst than southern white trash. Most of the time, the “Florida Man” in the news was born and raised in the Midwest, before moving to Florida.

Scotland is twenty kinds of beautiful. This picture is from Glenfinnan. Out of frame to the left is the train viaduct featured in several Harry Potter movies. The water is the northern end of Loch Shiel where several aerial shots of “Hogwarts Lake” were filmed. The small structure to the left is a memorial to the

As risk-averse as Karam claims the owners are, I would imagine they see taking a new, young driver whose recklessness killed a guy as a huge liability.

Glad no one got hurt, etc.

The day of Homecoming 2005. The rear axle on the 1994 Dodge Caravan detached itself from the car at 40 MPH while I was picking up my date’s flowers. That car definitely let me down (actually the mechanic who was fixing something and forgot to reattach the axle let me down, but either way). My dad did not let me down.

I’ll bet you $100 that Kellogg was himself severely sexually abused.

I’m getting the sinking feeling that this guy was probably a seasoned child rapist. He explained away all the signs of sexual abuse and got to get his hands on children over and over again for more “treatment.” Very devious and sick of this guy.

You can find similar things even today in the Mormon Church and various strains of evangelical Christianity, though they stop short of advocating surgical mutilation.

Men were drawn to their assertiveness and autonomy at first, only to find that—in a region that will hold onto gender roles as long as it has held on to lard-based cooking—we ultimately didn’t “need them” enough.

It took me and my friends an embarrassingly long time to learn that just because a guy gets aroused around us that doesn’t mean it’s our responsibility to do anything about it. Like when they say, “what, you’re just going to leave me like this??” Um, yes?

Some, yep. Also: how many of us have thought it was a great idea to bone some dude, but it turned out he was just NOT a good match for whatever reason. What do you do then? Peace out half way through? Could do, but seems a bit rude. An informal poll of female friends suggests “do whatever it takes to get him to finish

Networking, logrolling and nepotism

I’m all about supporting our troops. And about women having to pass the same physical standards as men. Every woman partner I’ve had as a cop easily passed the same standards I did. My last one is still in better shape than I’ve ever been in. So, I know women can do it.
