A lot of them also go to Christian quacks who diagnose the kids with Reactive Attachment Disorder and prescribe abusive "therapeutic" treatments with no clinical basis, many of which involve withholding food and physical touch until the kids 'behave', and also punishing the kids for speaking in their native language

Totally. I have two kids. We were/are looking to adopt a third. My mental health was questioned because I was sad after two miscarriages. I was told they would have to investigate to make sure they could trust me with a child. But here this guy was allowed to adopt two and he doesn't even want them.

Don't forget the part where a lot of those families subscribe to that insane Michael Pearl "train up a child" parenting philosophy that involves so much physical and emotional abuse that a number of adopted children have died from the disciplinary techniques. Go Christianity!

Sorry (for anyone who is not a fellow recovering editor) but "followed us around like the goddamn predator for 20 minuets" painted a mental picture I will not soon forget — that of seedy sex club patrons dancing the minuet, not once, but 20 times.

There is a huge problem in this country with children being adopted from shady overseas agencies by Christian fundamentalists, and then being 're-homed' (often to sexual predators) after they fail to be the perfectly obedient Christian children their adoptive parents expect. Several countries have had to cut off

I have never heard of the practice before now. I can't imagine "rehoming" a child unless you literally were no longer able to care for them. Especially a child who has already experienced severe disruption in their life and needs a stable environment. Is the number of adoptive parents who just don't understand what

Also,

Another pro-lifer GOP type who values life right up till birth.

The kids had been in foster care and he just gave them to his random former employee, whom he had fired for not being up to snuff at the job, a job caring for children??!!!!!!

I hope this results in more attention on the gray market for children. Rehoming is common and tragic.

Rein. Like 90% of our language, it's horses all the way down.

Ways to reuse a penis cake pan:

"Hi! Happy wedding day! here's an old used penis cake!"

He looks like a cast member of "Twilight".

But, its says "No. Not that Kind." To me, that's decidedly one of the lesser clicky baity Jez headlines of all time.

It's so weird that she's Christian Bale's stepmother.

Not a disaster story, but a tip for any of you who might be mailing out invitations at some point: Assign each household a number and put it on the back of the RSVP card. Some people don't remember to put their own names on the card, or the names are illegible. It also gives you a simple way to sort them so you can

A few years ago some dear friends were getting married and I was their graphic designer - it was so much fun (really!) getting to do that, and they were super into having everything be branded for the wedding. We had strict graphic standards for the event.

I wanted something very specific for my very small wedding and thought it would be nicer (and cheaper) to make them by hand. My husband is a cartography dork so I folded little sailboats out of maps and used other map-related scrapbook paper and all sorts of bells and whistles on these 30 odd intricate little
