This game seems to be affecting people so hard it makes me wonder if the three decades of gaming and incremental realism in violent games has me completely desensitized. I really enjoyed the stealth action gameplay for the whole duration (scrounging resources sometimes got old though).

Heavy speculation with a healthy dose of confirmation bias doesn’t make for a good faith article. You could just have easily have spun it the other way and said “Tlou2 Easter Egg appears to confirm disgruntled employees at Naughty Dog”. In truth there’s no evidence to support either piece of conjecture (Crunch

Wait, this isn’t an Onion article?

Can’t say I disagree from that perspective. It will never not look strange though. One of those bad boys could pop up on the next article that shreds them :D

I know it’s out of the hands of the writers and probably even the editor but it’s really weird to see a big ol G2A ad on a site that has, repeatedly and rightly, highlighted their shady business practices and advised people to avoid them.....

Probably because it’s such an easy to implement narrative driver. Antagonist kills family or friend of protagonist and you have all the motivation you need for the MC to go on their quest for revenge. I honestly can’t personally relate to most characters I play in videogames, or their motivations, but that can also be

Interesting read, thanks! Like most media the game will affect different people in different ways. Whether the themes hit home for someone may depend on their predisposition to realistic videogame violence (or simulated violence in general). I find myself largely unaffected by it and I’m hoping excessive brutality

Great entries, the Heavy Rain one killed me!

It’s a shame she’s not getting the engagement. It seems like a lot of people may have subscribed to support someone they personally like while not being particularly interested in the content they make. I’ve done this myself and it’s probably not be so helpful in the long run if you don’t actually plan to watch.

In terms of the core game, I have to disagree. The story, while innovative in it’s core premise, failed to be engaging in execution (subjective, but so is everything else). 2 main characters who were utterly bereft of personality, which is no mean feat when Nolan North is doing VA for one of them, but especially

I agree, it’s dumb to do something based of just one kids opinion but...the kid was absolutely correct! The game was relentlessly tedious despite being an impressive technical showcase. Still, without addressing the issues with the core gameplay loop there was no way side missions were going to make the game any

If this was pre-rendered target footage I’m kinda glad it never went further. Post Mechner prince has always had a healthy disrespect for the laws of gravity (among others) but this guy simply denies its existence!

I’m a huge Soulsborne fan and invasions/coop are one of my favourite parts of those games. I was bummed when I heard it wouldn’t be in Sekiro but watching this, as cool as it is, I’m kinda glad I wasn’t dealing with it in Ashina!

.

They may make use of historical settings but the AC games are a complete fantasy with a ton of crazy sci-fi trappings. If I were the type of person to be bothered by a game not adhering to historical facts I would not make this my hill to die on. Luckily I don’t care either way :)

There’s supposed to be an (unofficial) English translation of The Ultimania already knocking about out there. From what I heard there’s some conflicting info about the game, and its future entries, in there. In any case, if true I just don’t see how they can make that interesting. As you mentioned, you need to see AC

But that was fine since you don’t actually see Sephiroth in the OG Midgar section, only his sword sticking out of President Shinra’s back. It’s Clouds creative retelling of the Nibelheim incident that starts to give context to their relationship and that doesn’t happen until Kalm. Up until then a newbies only know

I totally agree with your first 2 paragraphs but...

We’re both really looking forward to this. Isn’t that right Zach?

Yes it’s clear that this isn’t Sephiroth’s real body (he’s regenerating in the Northern Crater at the time) hence my use of the phrase “so to speak”. The problem is the lack of context behind most of this stuff in Remake. We learn that Cloud killed him in Chapter 2, a strong motivator for sure, but it doesn’t explain
