It comes across as really disingenuous when they publish the exact same article every time an imitation meat product comes out.

Did you actually read what I wrote? Again, the point for these folks isn’t to avoid “contaminating” themselves with animal products. It’s to remove their monetary (and moral/discursive) support for a system that kills animals. They do that by buying alternatives and avoiding buying animal products. It’s about dollars,…
why does ever meat eater have an opinion when a vegetarian option (1 option) is added to their otherwise mostly meat-heavy menu? yes, vegetarians have made due on bean burritos...taco bell doesn’t “need” to make fake meat. but maybe there is a market for it...so that is the answer to literally everything on their…
Microwaving veggies totally messes up the texture.
It’s for people who want to eat less meat but don’t care about going full veg/vegan. Pretty easy to figure out.
Another perfect example of the comments section inherently understanding what the author of the post does not.
Right? They are acting like vegans and vegetarians are treating food preparation like Jews and Muslims when it comes to pork. Not saying some aren’t, but it’s definitely not the norm.
You said it, man.
I know lots of vegans and vegetarians, and very few particularly care about things like shared fryers and whatnot. That’s because their choice is about removing their dollars from a system that harms animals, not from some sort of quasi-religious aversion to coming into contact with meat.
I do not understand this site’s continued hostility to the idea of plant-based meat in fast-food settings and its continued feigned confusion in asking “who is this for?” Time and time again, commenters have patiently and not-so-patiently explained the possible benefits, who might want to eat said products, etc., and…
No. Oven or a hot pan with some sort of fat. Keep your microwave or steamer the fuck away from me
Really, Dennis? I normally like your stuff, but in the year of our Lord 2022, you feel the need to write an entire piece on this? The potential of microwave cooking?
Taco Bell is, indeed, one of the only veg-friendly fast food options in the US. That said, black beans as the protein aren’t necessarily suited for every dish (Burritos? Great! Tacos? Not so much), and some items greatly benefit from the textural addition of...textured plant protein.

This works if you like steamed vegetables. Roasting veggies in the oven takes about the same amount of effort, and the results are far superior most of the time. The only advantage the microwave has over the oven is time.
checker’s/rally’s really depend on a lot of variables. most of the time in my area everything sucks. even the fries are limp and sad. the only time they were worth it was when they had the chicken dippers box for $2 where you got what amounted to a medium fry and four thick chicken fries (they had the same seasoning…
It’s the same issue we found with KFC’s Beyond Fried Chicken that left us asking, “who is this for?”
“Can Perfect Fries Fix a Bad Burger”
Nope. Though I do agree Checker’s fries are very good.
It’s for vegetarian-curious or the i-know-better-but-adding-meat-is-just-first-nature-to-me crowd like all the rest. That’s more why they’re not worried about cross contamination, it’s not really for vegans.
I have never heard of this, nor have I ever had cucumbers that are in any way bitter. I must have been buying some kind of super-cuke all this time.
