I acknowledged Hammond may have been mostly an impressionist. My original comment was not about Hammond. It was about the history of underuse of impressionists on snl. The fact that one was successful does not change that most are not.

Darrell Hammond was a lot more than an impressionist. Recently, Melissa Villasenor has been completely underused, and Jay Pharoah was essentially nonexistent on the show.

Hell if I know. I just know they rarely get utilized on snl.
