Most civil litigation firms (mine does this and so does ever other firm in my area) charge hourly and take a certain percentage of the ultimate award. the retainer usually reads something like: 33 1/3% if settled prior to trial, 40% if goes to trial, 50% if goes to appeal.
Your essay is nice but I wish you had explained exactly what “brand” of Evangelicalism you were raised in - the megachurch/Assemblies of God version of Evangelicalism is very different than the Plymouth Brethren/non-denominational version of Evangelicalism (the former being far, far more progressive than the latter).
It is also unclear what “brand” of Evangelicalism the author was raised in; I attended a Plymouth Brethren church for a while as a child and that brand of Evangelical church produces as entirely different type of experience than the megachurch-style of Evangelicalism.

In middle school (1998ish), our district provided mass vaccinations for Hepatitis B. I don’t recall anyone complaining. We all lined up in the common room, got vaccinated, got handed a cookie and sent back to class.
the weirdest thing is that (from what I can tell) those people who are already diagnosed with Celiac’s cannot even join the army! (but if they are diagnosed during service the army is totally cool with letting them stay.)
I was about 9 at the time and also watched the entire thing on CourtTV. I’m not sure why my parents allowed that to happen.
they offer accurate costumes for the period!
haha. same.
True. But she does go back at night and re-hash the same conversation using Lauren B.’s name. (I think they show her saying it during that convo but I really don’t recall.)
given that he then turned to Lauren B. and (sort of ) confronted her about it, no.
My friends and I were dying at this scene. She was clearly freezing and miserable and upset and THEN HE WALKED 20 FEET AWAY TO GIVE EMILY THE ROSE WHILE SHE HAD TO WATCH.
