“They don’t represent the shareholders” is real big “how can this poll be accurate if they didn’t ask me” energy.

I was happy to see her get the SAG nomination, and hopeful that meant the Oscar nom. I get that Curtis is getting a lot of support from being a well established actor getting sort of a career recognition, but for as good as she was (and she was great) she was somehow only the fourth best thing about that movie.
I join the cynicism. Oscar loves movies about how magical and special movies are.
Given they’re creating these big moving pictures full of things that could never exist, aren’t all movies a marvel when you really think about it? So, anyway, sign here to be in this marvel of a movie.
The Encino Man sweep!
You’ve got it in one. Adapted screenplay is anything drawing from established IP. In this case, Glass Onion is considered an adaptation of the Benoit Blanc character from Knives Out.
Yes. Same as Top Gun. A sequel is always considered an adapted screenplay because it is based on existing IP, even if that IP was another movie by the same creative team. Since Glass Onion is based on the established character of Benoit Blanc, it is adapted per the Academy’s screenplay categorization rules.
I think part of the stated reason that they can put up as many as 10 best picture nominees is to ensure a few “popular” films make the field, which the producers of the show hope lead to the necessary interest for people to stick with the broadcast.
In my dream Oscars it wins 9 awards (Hsu over Curtis and missing out on Best Original Song to Naatu). But I’ll just be so happy if Quan wins that I might forgive it otherwise falling short. I’ve never felt so weirdly invested in someone’s award season success.
Which is strange cause I would expect some level of mass fleet production of ships. It’s not like every starship is a bespoke piece of engineering. Do people complain when movies centering on the US Air Force have too many F16s? Especially given the losses the Federation suffered at the hands of the Borg and Dominion,…
And I wonder if DC is going to be once-bitten about making a movie just because a muscly guy reaaaaaaally wants to play the role like super badly.
Lobo v Aquaman: Dawn of Splitscreens
I think they established he’s some kind of aging android that is designed to eventually die? Or maybe I’ve made that up.
It would be weird to kill Picard off twice in three seasons, but all the interviews certainly do sound like they’re coming to a definite end-point for his character. Maybe something more like Sisko heading off with the Profits than explicitly dying.
Thing is...I thought they had done this.
The entire season is just going to be the computer doing his version of The Aristocrats. It’s a choice to be sure, but I think the kind of boldness that the franchise is known for.
The man who figured out how a gentleman detective can still work in the 2020s has now apparently cracked how to tell a modern day 70s detective series.
Grogu gets his Mandalorian armor this season or we take to the streets, right?
YES CHEF!
Yes! I feel like most of the complaints around the show boil down to “fantasy shouldn’t be fun.”
