When I was in college back in the days when paying your credit card bill was only done monthly with a check and before wide availability of debit cards, I did this before a period of study abroad so that I could use my card and wouldn’t have to worry about missing payments during the time I was gone. It worked out

This is terrible advice. You’re not accruing interest charges if you make a full payment. Overpaying prevents you from earning interest on your savings or paying down other debt. Savings accounts can be in the 5% range right now, and other debt you have can be anywhere from 0-30something percent. It’s a lot smarter to

giving free loans to the credit card company: absurd.

Or I guess you could just have a landline if you want kids to be able to make calls.

I can’t believe any functional adult is still out there booking through third parties.  The actual hotel has a perfectly functional site through which you can book the same room, usually cheaper, and definitely more reliably. The only time a reservation was lost while travelling for work was when a new hire booked

Looking for South Padre Island Hotels, I checked direct hotel webpages, Checked Hotels.com and similar pages, Direct Hotel was cheaper, then I proceed to call the hotel directly and it was expensive than the page, and told them: “Well I think I will use your webpage” and they confirm, it was better that way. At least

Alternatively, you can book online directly with the hotel.

I love this typo!

I disagree that you should never flash your brights in response to another car’s brights. A quick flash can often clue the other driver in to the fact that they have their high beams on, prompting them to turn them down.

Lifehacker contradicts itself frequently.

NOPE.

Sure hope there aren’t any cops reading this bullshit.

Many, if not most, gifted kids are highly intelligent AND have ADHD or Autism (or both!). Get those diagnoses sorted out if they apply to your kid, and save them a world of burnout later!

Why do you only mention rainwater? While it’s probably illegal in most suburbs, and whether or not it’s safe depends on where you are, groundwater would be a viable option for many.

What is with all the luggage articles recently? You would think that getting a suitcase on a plane is one of mankind’s greatest challenges with the way Lifehacker keeps writing about it.

Step 4 in the painting process is not only unnecessary, it leads to problems. If you don’t have a paint that perfectly matches, now you’ll have a perfectly uniform area that was masked off that is now a different color. This makes the problem more apparent. The better approach is to not mask the area, make sure you

It’s always funny when people complain about having hassles getting their luggage when skip tracing goes wrong. They used the service in a way that it was not intended then get indignant that said service is not more equipped to resolve their weird requests.

They always have that horrible strong rubbery chemical stench. Whether brand new or decades old.

I thought the black lines were like a Bee. Warned you if you got to close to the rear, some 7th grader was going to moon you.
