If I could get over this, you would get over that.
If I could get over this, you would get over that.
Hell yes: the Supreme Court has struck down all federal bans on same-sex marriage. What a beautiful day for basic…
Ugh, now you’ve got me started:
That’s about it. But I cringe to see critics suffering the hipster effect, and yet there they are....
It’s fascinating to watch the ebb and flow of good will directed towards popular franchises. That period when something has fallen out of favour and the tide gradually turns against it. Must give many a producer the heebie jeebies.
As a devotee of Star Trek and Microsoft products in the 1990s, I like that connection - Babylon 5 of course is Linux, the one a passionate fanbase considered better than Star Trek/Microsoft but nobody actually used.
I would set up a studio to systematically film every single Hugo and Nebula novel award winner. “The Demolished Man”! “Ringworld”! “Lord of Light”! “The Windup Girl”! “Ancillary Justice”! These are fantastic stories that are now possible with CGI. By my count, only four Hugo winners have been filmed so far. When we’re…
Ah - another one: implement a ‘salary cap’ for budgets. Gone are movies that spend 4 billion dollars for one movie. Force movies to be made on a Roger Corman independent studio style. No money, no time, no resources = creativity!
Every time you make a $100M budget movie, you are required to produce 5 $20M movies.
To steal from the Evil Overlord list:
Here’s my rule: We will never get rid of sequels and reboots. They make far too much money. Instead, for every reboot/sequel/remake/franchise movie you make, you have to make (and market and distribute) five low budget films from young directors. You wanna greenlight Paul Blart 3: The Blartening? Swell. Go out and…
This was going to be my comment.
Come up with another (better) algorithm for determining ratings. The Nielson Rating system is outdated and I don’t think that execs really pay attention to DVR/Online viewership as intently because there’s no easy way to process/analyze (due to how people watch using the tech). Something that combines both as well as…
Do hollywood like Canadian radio and TV - the CBC requires that something like 75% or 80% of their content be local and home-brewed. Now, I don’t want hollywood to follow the home-brewed model - but make them follow a “You are only allowed 25% of your content to be remakes, reboots or sequels” law.
I would banish the notion that animated movies are for kids only. There are so many sci-fi/fantasy properties that are just hamstrung from the very beginning by being live action. Then I can finally have my Hyperion Cantos cartoon on HBO, or Dune: 50% More Sandworms, or Game of Thrones: The Kids Are The Right Ages and…
You are not allowed to quickly churn out a crappy just so you can keep a license for when (or if) you actually want to make a real attempt.
All movies must begin and end their stories within the same movie.
If you have a degree in business then you don’t get to make creative decisions, period.
As Walt is bleeding out on the floor of the meth lab, his cell phone rings and he answers.
Hey, it's TV's Michael Grey!
