I bought an oversized fishermen’s knit cardigan (which I’m wearing right now!), a blue velvet skater dress, and a few 50/50 crewneck tshirts. I bought these right before they announced they were closing.

I really liked their stuff, but I always sticked to the basics (never tried, say, a shiny thong swimsuit or whatever). But it is true that AA was not only trying to attract a certain type of rich thin young person, but was also a logistical nightmare of a company.

I would say living wage tends to outweigh the actions of the nasty dude at the top, because there’s no ethical consumption of anything. It’s certainly not “ok,” but in world where you can’t shop in an ethical way I would rather shop at, say, AA than H&M.

I think the population that uses the internet has vastly changed in the last 15 years. Back then, the cousin who thought the moon landing was faked or the mother who didn’t know what Photoshop was weren’t on the internet. Well, they are now! And they brought their gullibility along with them.
