No. The RC is the ‘spiritual’ successor to the SC/Soarer. Lexus PR themselves have said as much essentially, though I can’t find the source right now.

I disagree. The RC is the replacement for the Soarer. Luxury focus, somewhat larger than its supra equivalent, etc.

True, but at the end of the day, it’s all about the actual output. Saying that the engine is doing OK for what it is, isn’t really relevant if you’re left wanting more torque. If anything, it’s an indicator that the platform is pretty close to tapped out in some cases. Here’s an admittedly silly illustration: “Hey
