This. The premium that some of these tuners charge people is absolutely insane.

I’ve seen a few. Even seen a few of the Harley Davidson 4-door equivalent. Most are beat up, but a co-worker actually had a very clean one that was entirely stock. Also know a local guy who has one with a Kenne Bell blower and forged internals.

Both the lightning and the SRT10 were significantly less expensive. They were parts bin specials and they were widely criticized for being silly. Thought their silliness also made them endearing.

Oooph. Glad I haven’t eaten lunch yet

They are going about this all wrong.

I don’t think the influx of jdm supras will impact us prices that much. I anticipate the Jdm imports will be overpriced and the us stuff will remain stable.

I am completely aware of what amFD is capable of when modified. But I was speaking strictly stock examples. I seriously doubt that the person in this article would modify whatever they buy. But everything goes out the window when you start including modified examples. Most anything can be quick with the right parts

While the accord could be embarrassing, the RX7 may be no less embarrassing.

I may have exaggerated. The Accord is closer to 5.6 seconds.

Nearly anything can be fast.

I realize that completely. Though, I was replying to the general statement that the RX7 is fast - which isn’t exactly accurate.

I agree that it is a good choice for a young Jalop. I love the sleeper idea.

The title of this article is: “I need something unique AND FAST that my kid will think...”

Cool. I already addressed every possible response to my original reply. Check out the other replies if you care to get more in depth.

I actually prefer the chassis in the C5 over the FD. The wider track and the longer wheelbase make the C5 a bit more stable in most situations. Most of the FD’s I’ve driven have actually been somewhat twitchy.

Again, an FD isn’t all that special compared to a modern car, even in the bends.

My point more so was that a stock FD RX7 isn’t exactly “fast.” Somewhat quick, sure. But not exactly fast by today’s standards.

But the child and most everyone in the valley will think it’s a Malibu

This is the logical choice, but I’m not sure it’s unique and cool enough for this situation. To most people, it will be just another Lexus, and the same may apply to his son.
