I kinda wish the fast SUV segment would go away.

Yup. The car is happy to take off in 2nd. Not a single judder or signs of complaint. Shifting to 4th is natural from there. Even stock, the car tries to make you shift from 1st to 4th under light load. There’s plenty of torque to go around and it requires the least amount of clutch action in heavy traffic, meaning

Easiest way to trudge along in stop and go traffic without constantly shifting. Requires far less involvement than shifting through 6 speeds constantly.

It is, though sometimes I’m just driving through bumper to bumper traffic to get to work. Once warm, I still romp on it.

I have a c5 Z06. It’s exceptionally easy to keep it below 1500 rpms, even at highway speed, and there is plenty of torque below that mark as well.

I wrote “first 15 minutes.” My oil temp is about 190 degrees by the 12 minute mark.

This is what I was wondering and seems like the best justification for idling before setting off. With my car, which holds roughly 7 quarts of oil, 60 seconds does very little in the way of warming up the oil though. I have an oil temp gauge and on freezing days, the oil takes about 5 minutes or so to go from 30

I wasn’t talking about the car in the article, I was talking about a scenario where one drive’s their personal car below 1500 rpm’s for 15 mins or so.

C5 Z06.

C5 Z06.

What would be the harm in not warming it up if your drive for the first 15 minutes or so doesn’t require you to exceed 1500rpms?

Why? There are so many nicer 80's wagons than a frumpy civic.

I find the title of this article very annoying.

Sounds like a waste of time and money. But it’s their time and money, so more power to them.

My biggest qualm and original point is that only the premium can be ordered with the bigger screen, which includes navigation. Navigation/Sync 3 is NOT available on the base Ecoboost, V6, or GT. Only premium trims get this option.

Good thing I’m not your average Jalopnik reader. Some people want cloth interior and some amenities/tech. Something the Camaro offers and something the Mustang does not offer. Too bad the Camaro is claustrophobic and has zero visibility.

Looks like the only change to the interior is the gauges. Hopefully they made the larger center screen standard. The current standard screen is awful and cheap looking.

They easily could without even having to use and modify the prius system.

I had a similar experience at some point. My significant other decided they wanted a new SUV, and I immediately started to think about all of the sporty SUV’s that I could suggest for her, in the inevitable event that I ended up behind the wheel.

I follow you. I suppose fun is relative. I’ve driven the current SQ5 and I’ve driven countless equivalently quick sedans and I found no enjoyment in driving the SQ5. The seating position destroys the experience for me. But if it works for others, that’s great.
