“White genies be all ‘SINCE YE HATH SUMMONED ME, I GRANT TO YE THESE WISHES THREE’ and black genies be all ‘Yo, homie, whatchu want? I got you.’”

Could you expound on the differences to be observed between black and white genies?

Idris Elba as a genie? I’ll take my time with those three wishes, am I right, ladies?

Chuckles in ‘90s stand-up comic.

Well, you’re kind of proving my point, as there’s a good chance Phillips is responsible for the popularity of Mackenzie (as a girls’ name) in the first place. One Day at a Time premiered in 1975. The first time Mackenzie cracked the top 1000 most popular baby names? 1976.

Again with The Twilight Zone analogy, that series suffered when they decided to go from half-hour episodes (the perfect length for their O’Henry/proto-Shamalan “what a twist!” stories) to hour long ones in season 4 (1962-1963). It’s a pity that later series didn’t learn from this mistake.

Well , I always though that was Ron Livingston as the lead in Early Edition , so I learned something today ( to be fair Kyle Chandler looks a lot like him )

It also seems some people believe “thinking for yourself” means your conclusions need to be uniquely personal to you, even if they disagree with a general global consensus (because otherwise your thinking isn’t yours, is it).

Right? Neither Jim Gaffigan nor Jerry Seinfeld nor Steve Martin are comedians, because they aren’t EXTREEEEEEEEEME, MAAAAAAAN!

First Evan Rachel Wood makes all of those accusations against the guy who played Paul, and now this. I never thought I’d have to say this, but maybe Wayne was right all along. Maybe they really were buttheads.

Holy shit, if you can find the double soundtrack album on vinyl, it’s an opera.

I thought it was fun BUT leaned too far into the quasireligious aspect of the show. I also didn’t particularly care about the show’s mythology. It’s weirdly an example of a procedural that got less appealing (for me) when serial elements were introduced.

It’s also incredibly lazy and an easy way for people to feel superior to *something*. It’s embarrassing to watch no matter which generation is being maligned.

He was an early liberal with a healthy skepticism of government motivation or capability. Not exactly positions synonymous with the contemporary left, which makes it easy for Carlin to be coopted by the right.  I suspect a lot of his acts would get heaps of shit shoveled onto him as well.

Well, said. My boss who’s younger than me calls me the worlds youngest millennial. I’m a boomer, but believe in my younger citizens.

“what is a Disney+ TV show if not a two-hour film with four or six additional hours tacked on needlessly?”

Favorite role?  For me, Tinker Tailor, or The Firm.  He’s fantastic in Slow Horses as well.  Looking forward to next season.

It was a Fletch joke.  Yes, in 2022.

Victory Project? So it’s not a movie about the New York Knicks.

I’m so glad Liam is still working and that we get to see him. It's really all a gift, he's totally right about that. We'll never see Bruce Willis on screen again...
