After I finished it, I tried watching one of the American cooking shows Netflix recommended for me, I even picked on of the “friendlier” ones. But, everything was so negative I just couldn’t watch more than an episode.

British Valium?
Try Emmerdale (Farm)
He was in season 4. ( I had to google that, not that much of a super fan!)
It’s the fact that Mary never means them to be rude. She’s such a lady but cut to Mel and Sue smirking like kids. That show is magic.
Most. Calming. Show. EVER. It is the BEST to fall asleep to. Literally, visions of sugar plums dance in your head as your lulled to sleep by the dulcet tones of polite people competing. Heaven. I hope it never leaves.
I love you and your husband. No soggy bottoms round yours I bet.
I was wondering how the innuendos go over to a US audience. My friends and I watch mostly for the double entendres. Or drinking games
Also I find Mary Berry to be terrifying in the sweetest nicest way possible. Lol I fear her passive, polite as possible judgement. haha
I was watching one the other day where she said something like, “It’s an unusual combination, but blow me if it doesn’t work!” I don’t know if that means something different in British but it was amazing.
I just love Richard, he makes me so happy. He seems like such a sweet humble man who just loves to bake. So cute! Love this show!
I love how supportive they are of one another, gathering around to hug the contestant sent home each week.
The other day as I pulled my Christmas cookies out of the oven I muttered to myself in a Mary Berry voice “A nice, even bake.”
I’ve found it impossible to explain to people exactly why I love this show. The food of course, oh my god, the food.
When approving of a meal, my husband and I now nod to each other and say “good bake.” When disapproving, we turn to each other and say “I wouldn’t eat that, Mary.”
Love, love this show. My partner and I have not only watched it, but got the supplemental episodes where Paul and Mary teach you how to make every technical challenge. Not only do they show you every step of the process, but they explain *why* you are doing what you’re doing. That way we have made a great pork pie and…
It is a hug wrapped in choux pastry, and a second of it is more soothing than an hour of meditation.
I just discovered this show on Netflix this week too! It’s so goddamned charming, and so well made. None of the endless filler and “my journey” tedious soliloquies you get on most American TV competitions, just lovely people, making yummy stuff, in a beautifully-produced show. The varied British accents are also a…
Have any of you guys seen Annabelle’s Wish? It is the saddest fucking Christmas movie in the existence of Christmas movies. PLUS!!! Randy Travis does some voice work and who doesn’t love COUNTRY SUPER STAR RANDY TRAVIS.
How are the boys’ names dumb? Every last one of them is a traditional name (thank god - I wasn’t a fan of people naming their boys Jayden and Grayson). Atticus, Asher, Silas and Jude have literary nerd appeal. :) Jasper is a nice Scandinavian name that I’d probably consider for my own offspring.
“I pray through all this that I would be an extension of God’s love to Joshua”
