Completely agree with you re: TMD. That excuse was pitiful.

I had an auto VW and the parking brake, to my memory, never was never automatically applied. If you have your seatbelt on and put it in drive, it will release automatically.

Moved from CA to OH 14 years ago and I’m still amazed at how many people here don’t use the parking brake.

My wife had a 2004 Forester XT (turbo), and while it  had some power, the transmission sucked. Turbo lag? That’s nothing compared to transmission lag! The automatic climate control was so good my wife never used it. Either blowing full speed full hot or cold, or doing nothing at all.
