I point everyone towards Finland's education system:
...It seems far more reasonable to assume that this is a child-safety issue than an all-children-are-criminals issue.
Yeah, I think that might have been why they went for this romance in the reboot. Also, because all Hollywood films need a romantic subplot.
Apparently it was originally scripted to be Spock-Uhura but Shatner insisted that if the first televised interracial kiss was going to happen on a show he was in, he was going to be half of it.
"That is, provided the women are fully-conscious adults with no conflicting emotional ties to their attackers, the money to purchase and license a gun, the time to reach for the gun, the nerves and physical distance to aim and shoot accurately, and the good fortune to not have their weapon wrestled away and used…

"The article goes on to explain how tests have shown that zero-gravity conditions can have negative affects on human (and plant and animal) health."
This is one of the only negative articles I've seen in all this fucking bullshit fawning over the Pope. I approve.

I got really confused at first because I didn't understand why people were having trouble with the article. It's not ambiguous. Although the author seems to disagree with helping troubled families for some reason, maybe that threw people.

In the developed world it's rapidly losing members (and the way the Church counts its members is a bit specious). And I see no reason why the same won't start to happen in developing nations.
Many laws prohibiting homosexuality in the Commonwealth are actually relics from the colonial era and the British Empire did a pretty good job of stamping out local tolerance for homosexuality wherever they found it.
As awful as the Catholic Church is, watching it condemn itself to oblivion with its shitty attitudes is fairly satisfying.
I wouldn't want my wife to take my name. I concede that it's still not a decision that's mine to make but it'd make me feel weird.
