607? That's fucking insane. There were about 550 murders in the UK total last year. Granted it's a smaller country but I wouldn't have expected the police to kill someone twice a day in the US.
That may be true, but not everyone who commits suicide is intent on doing so. It can be and often is a spur of the moment decision facilitated by easy access to effective methods like guns.

Do you have a source for the bolded part? I've seen it claimed the other way (it'll give people ideas, indulging the feelings makes them stronger etc.) but never seen any research.
