Get rid of the tax favorability of debt accumulated for acquisitions, and require them to have a higher ratio of their own capital investment to any debt used in acquisitions. That would scare off most private equity firms doing a quick cash grab and stealth liquidation.

Are you tired of winning yet? I am, I'm so tired of winning... God please just make it stop

If the brass is not allowing Deadspin to utter the name of Splinter even here, that is asinine beyond belief. G/O management is exhibiting a lack of class and spine that is noticeable even in an industry where both are in increasingly short supply.

If closing Splinter News was really about profits, they would have had some goodbyes, kept the site in the family for a little while, and folded some of the writers over to other blogs. Instead, they cut it, laid everyone off, and forbade the writers from other blogs from even mentioning it. The execs are doing it

THIS is why the G/O execs killed Splinter News. Anything it takes to stop news blogs that are favorably reporting on progressive candidates.

The fact that they didn’t even get a farewell post just felt like an extra gut punch for absolutely no reason.

Nope, it’s been explicitly prohibited:

Not to mentioning shutting down a fairly popular politics website while we are in the middle of a fucking Constitutional crisis unfolding right in front of our eyes

Topical!

Or hell, even an old school roasting of someone leaving the site, even if by leaving the site, it is leaving the group of G/O sites to an untimely death.

I wish your shithead executives would let you and your readers publicly mourn Splinter. It is missed.

It was a terrible joke about the weed killer that people claim causes cancer

Woods saw what Hard Knocks did for Gruden and went the Room Raiders route.

I believe Ellen called in a favor.

Things that I don’t think I could reasonably expect to get away with:

Speaking of slumlords, can we just talk about the demise of Splinter instead?

The Roundup News has always been a cancer for Pierce College

At least their NCAA status is intact.

Slumlording is really diversifying. Used to be it was dominated by the same sorts of middleman minorities who owned liquor stores and ripoff dry cleaners, but now black folks are finally getting in on the business.

It was an accident, but now it seems fitting. They were part of a political corruption scheme to leave Turner Field for SunTrust Park in the first place.
