awesome! i’m definitely gonna play it. I’m working down the list of all the games on the collection and i’m pretty sure all 3 of those are on there.

i actually kinda forgot about it to be honest - i’m gonna be playing them on the sega collection, mostly for the first time. I just kinda missed out on a lotta them, though i do have some memories from one of them when I was younger! I’m looking forward to it.
except that it’s generally highly reviewed and is frequently on lists of good indie retro games to get. It’s specifically mentioned in this article....which is why I wrote my comment in the first place. It’s not bad, I just don’t get all the praise when there are a lot of other better retro games.
lol yea I mean, I definitely get the length arguments. There’s a lot of backtracking and it definitely drags, but it’s still soooo good. And my main point about comparing The Messenger and Bloodstained....I just don’t get it.
I can definitely agree to that, it did feel a bit long and circuitous, I kept having to back track more than felt normal in that type of game. It’s still a really great game though and I loved it over all. It’s not on the same level as some other great recent indies like Hollow Knight, Celeste, Dead Cells, but I’d say…
looks pretty cool! I’ll definitely keep an eye out for it. The Messenger was SO GOOD - it was so smooth to play and control it was incredible, HIGHLY recommend. Which brings me to...Bloodstained Curse of the Moon. I do not understand why this game is so highly recommended. It’s not retro...it’s just old. The controls…
hahaha it’s true, though I feel like they’re a bit more manageable in SOR2. Actually the whole game is more manageable, it never quite feels as unfairly hard as some others, which I think is also kinda why it stands out so much.
lol kids rule :)
yup totally - Golden Axe and Sonic are amazing too. Sonic 2 especially is also a classic that truly holds up. It’s still so smooth and a total blast to play. Sonic 1 is not quite on par with its flow. Golden Axe is really really good but it’s combat is a bit wonkier and not as clean as SoR. But they’re all....so good.…
Baba Is You is an absolute puzzle masterpiece. It really is just that good. I def think it should be on any GOTY lists (barring some other similarly incredible games pushing it off). It is probably one of the greatest puzzle games of all time.
Streets of Rage 2 is still, IMO, one of the best retro games of all time. It holds up INCREDIBLY well, it’s so well designed, well balanced, the music is incredible, the art direction perfect for the style. Every level is a masterpiece in simple sidescrolling design. It’s one of few older games, and one of few games…
okie dokie trollkie
must be nice not reading people’s entire comments and just quoting the part that lets you troll people
I see what you’re saying, but also you can’t really compare Shovel Knight and Hollow Knight to Yoshi’s Crafted World. Hollow Knight is a HUGE outlier in terms of cost to time ratio. Both those games also require FAR less work to make as Yoshi is a AAA game. Games just don’t work like that in terms of time. It’s easy…
I agree about the cost if you don’t have a lot of money budgeted for games. I mention that in my original post, it’s totally understandable and I’ve been there where I was meticulous about every dollar I spent cuz I was out of work or getting paid crap or whatever.
“Playing with another adult, we were continuously jumping on each others’ heads or swallowing each other by accident.” so it’s perfect co-op then? lol :) I love silly nonsense like this, it always makes for lols with friends. And since the game is easier than, say, a certain Wii Mario 2d platformer, I imagine this…
It’s crazy to think I last REplayed this game 15 years ago. When it came out 22 years ago it really was mindblowing. I still can see myself sitting on the floor of my room with a PS1 controller going through sections of the game. It’s such a memorable game. Really looking forward to playing it again....and handheld!…
“We have a vision to be the World’s Greatest Games Company,” he wrote.
Really great and interesting, thanks for sharing. It’s gotta be awkward to do that. Whenever I think about dreams I feel like they are tangible proof of the complexity of humanity. No matter how much society wants to stereotype a group of people, dictate who is or is not a “criminal”, point who is supposed to be evil…
well I mean, yeah sure....I agree with all that. Still, generally speaking, I’m talking about the many people who sacrifice happiness for money. It’s very common. People are money obsessed, at least in the US where I am. I see people give up alllll sorts of stuff for money - friends, partners, family, happiness, …
