jesus christ internet chill out! geez! streaming wars? online wars? digital distribution wars? goddamn does it really matter? they’re all part of the same general move towards further corporate ownership of games! calm down! it’s all related! i get one word off and i get flooded with comments....

I see your point, I wasn’t really thinking of it in those terms though. I was more thinking of it as giving up a happy work environment just to get paid more in a shitty one. It’s so rare to actually have a happy healthy work environment where you spend time doing what you love that you have to hold onto that shit as

I just finished listening to this a bit ago, loved it, I think it was my fave of all the podcasts you two did the last week. It was so great to hear from people from two awesome studios talking about how making games doesn’t have to be awful and depressing.

literally the entire video is devs talking about how they couldn’t make their game at a big studio and how apple is different.

I just see it as more blurred than that. I guess we could call it the online game wars, featuring streaming and subscriptions. But whatever is going on, Google and Apple just entered the arena and it just seems like it’s gonna be a shit show.

It’s an online subscription service that downloads digital only games that you don’t own and are tied to your subscription and a large corporation. How far we’ve come to already adjusting to the streaming world when we don’t see that as related to streaming.

Wellp. The streaming wars have begun. Apple and Google, two of the most mainstream companies in the world, are both positioning themselves as anti-mainstream and revolutionary. It’s gonna be years of this bullshit isn’t it?

The game is absolutely brilliant. I just listened to the Splitscreen podcast that had Matthew Burns from Zachtronics on it and all I can say is....thank fucking god for smart puzzle games. Also for indie studios and more egalitarian ways of living.

Every single time I’ve gotten stuck, I’ve walked away, used my subconscious brain to work it’s dream magic in bed, woken up, and beaten the level within like 10 minutes. The human brain is amazing, puzzle games are amazing, Baba Is You is fucking brilliant.

Either I just haven’t noticed it in comments online or people just aren’t thinking of it but...I really only care if the “gamer” model has proper online multiplayer functionality on par with playstation or xbox. Seems like the perfect time to do it (well, the perfect time to do it woulda been at launch but meh). It

Agreed. IMO it’s all part of the homogeneity of AAA games - everything must be easy, everything must be unlockable, everything must reach the farthest possible audience and be everything for everyone. Every game has to be an action/adventure/RPG/shooter with the easiest possible puzzle and platforming elements thrown

I believe you can block people but not easily from inside a game or anything (at least AFAIK) so it doesn’t really help. I’m surprised you haven’t seen any, I mean there are like 72 billion steam accounts so it’s not crazy I guess. Just look up...anything in users and you’ll find like a thousand results. For example I

Has anyone ever asked them about wtf is up with their account naming policy? The amount of hatespeech I’ve seen in user names is fuckin insane. I’ve never seen that on any other platform.

This video just makes me want to delete every single piece of software, app, etc. I own. It’s just unbelievable how quickly the internet and fucking tech companies have completely subjugated the world. We are completely owned by them and not a single government gave a shit cuz they worship private corporations. The

That is definitely the time it happened. 3D is correlated with so many factors that all lead to that - games were finally financially viable, which meant lots of money got throw at them, which means they could make 3D graphics at all, and the big corporations wanted games to have mass appeal so make them easier. Not

haha well if you didn’t get to the later levels.....yea, Cuphead is really hard lol. But yea I agree - I mean I don’t think we need to strap kids in and force them to play Castlevania - but I think it’s good to have games like Cuphead (and other recent indies) that require actual effort. Whereas most big single player

The game is brutally hard, but they’re right about the homage to the past. It’s less hard than virtually all hard games from the NES era. If you are an average gamer and spend time on it you will beat it in not that long a time. Certainly not as long as anything like Megaman or Mario or Contra or TMNT or Battletoads

Tim Schafer! I just finished Broken Age last week (LOVED IT!) and just finished watching the documentary soon after.

You gotta love that pure joy and emotion of accomplishment at the end. So awesome. I could never do that.

It’s unbelievable to me that people are so afraid of a union. Being against unions is like being against your right to vote. Does voting solve everything? of course not, but i’m not gonna give up my right to vote because I think fucking politicians know what they’re doing. That’s what you’re saying about bosses when
