I went to a kind of conservative private high school and our health/sex-ed teacher, who was probably late 20s, had us watch this movie. It was 1999 or 2000 and she was cool. She wanted us to not be a bunch of homophobic pricks, and that was part of the curriculum.

Yeah, the fact that Holden doesn’t turn Alyssa is basically the whole crux of the movie. I’m not sure how someone could see Chasing Amy and not get that, it gets spelled out pretty clearly.

As an epilogue to Chasing Amy, it’s revealed in Jay & Silent Bob Reboot that Holden is a co-parent for Alyssa and her wife’s daughter in which he was also the donor.

Which is totally fine I think.
