There was, but I think the people who called Joker a “remake” of King of Comedy vastly overestimated how much.

The first one made a billions dollars, so all the key people’s fees went through the roof.

This movie sounds so deranged, I had to check if Jon Peters was a producer.

Be fair. It wasn’t entirely a Taxi Driver ripoff. There was a fair bit of The King of Comedy in there too.

Yeah it seems like an intimacy coordinator-type advocate should be present on any set or behind the scenes with child actors, musicians, etc. Look at girls like Spears and Lohan who were basically piggybanks for parents who clearly didn’t have their children’s interests at heart.

Then I’m confused what value you think adding that to every mention of the story would bring? And I’m confused as to why you think they shouldn’t “breathlessly” report on someone raping a child and possibly others?  Did I say that trauma was an excuse to rape someone? Please show me where I did, because I think you

Child acting = Child labor. It’s strange we gloss over that just because it’s creative. When children are viewed as coworkers, employees, underlings, etc. instead of children, bad shit happens.

I think if children are allowed to work in entertainment, they need to have a legally appointed guardian, NOT their parents, who is subject to oversight.  Parents get to starry eyed by famous people and money and they aren’t protecting their children, and in a lot of cases they are stealing from them.

IIRC the covered it when it initially happened

*Spike Lee angrily tweets Orville Peck’s home address*

He’s got his sandwich in one hand and the fuckin hat in the other! *snort snort snort*

Good think Gregory Peck is dead or else people would be mistakenly sending him abuse too.

my favorite is The Jerk; menacing and funny!

No, not that Mother Scratcher!

Blood Simple is definitely his greatest role, but I also really enjoyed his small role in Raising Arizona as “machine shop ear-bender”, we’ve all known someone like that at work. I think I might have even been that guy on occasion.

I can’t believe Arvid and Dennis were friends. That’s 80s TV nerds for you. Blunden was a toxic jerk, and likely fit will with Schneider’s personality.

Agreed. I think this:

Does anybody else remember this guy mainly as the fat nerd from Head of the Class?

She’s always good, I think. Lit up her episodes of A Touch of Cloth.
