Cruise ships are the big issue. They cause lots of “peak strain” on the island since you can have 15000 people arriving in just one hour. On a tiny island.

Previous Greek governments had banned cruise ships from docking on small islands for this reason, but then it was allowed in the name of growth.

The tourists coming from Cruise are not the tourists you want. They dont stay at hotels, dont stay overnight for dinner and if you have been in Santorini, you will know they are shuttled in buses to the upper part of the island. These are not good for the locals. You want tourists that stay overnight and these are not…

I disagree. It depends how you visit the island. If you stay on the right side of the island in a boutique hotel then you can enjoy a relaxing day at  the hotel and go out in the evening and late at night when the horde of tourists are back on their ship and then it becomes a nice place again. + Don’t go in July or…

Funny enough I was in Mykonos and Santorini 40 years ago in May and June. Mykonos was still relatively sleepy, but Santorini was already big business. Still the most beautiful places I’ve ever been, along with the other islands in the Cyclades.

Nothing screams “a change in the perception, value and appreciation of music as a work of art” like an album slapped together from scraps recorded by artists who weren’t even aware they were working on an album together.

According to the original contract between Wu-Tang and the album’s prospective buyer, the album could have been publicly released (for free) on one condition: the album’s physical disc must be “heisted” away from Shkreli by a) any member or members of Wu-Tang Clan, past or present and/or b) Bill Murray.

This is not news. Members of the clan including Raekwon and U-God have been saying this publicly for years. Basically they were paid individually to record some verses without being informed that they would ultimately be used for a collective Wu-Tang album.

It’s funny, because it was basically a studio race to see which gang movie could get out first: this or The Warriors, and the two movies couldn’t be more different aside from featuring gangs.

Karen Allen was never hotter than in this movie, which is saying something

My dad (born 1948) loved this movie. Especially the soundtrack - he once sat me down to watch it, and explained the background, meaning and significance of every single song. He would have loved this article. Thank you for posting it.
