Finances are far from the only reason to compost. We keep our container in the freezer till it's full. We take it out when we take out the garbage. The compost pile doesn't get turned. Eventually it turns in to dirt with no effort from us.

I re-use zipper bags because they are made of plastic/petroleum, not for cost savings.
Exactly. My garden doesn't exactly save me money on food (I could get it cheaper than Aldi or whatever.) But it's my hobby - and my hobby yields great-tasting food, which makes it a net gain.
I'm passionate about my coffee. But the coffee I make at home is better than the stuff from Starbucks (hurray, French press). That's the frugal hack that works best for me - I've gotten to the point where I can make something better at home than I could get going out. So it doesn't matter so much if I shell out once…
The only coupons I ever use are ones my grocery store has for really cheap butter. I bake and go through a lot of butter.
I mean, I dig New Kingdom Ancient Egyptian style but I ain't about to go endorsing a god-king.
That sounds awesome, I would so go on that tour.
It's nowhere near the same thing, but my SO has this book. He is the most actively anti-racist white person I have ever met. He's at every protest against police brutality, against deportations, he has sponsored immigrants, and so on. He also happens to be a historian. We were at an antique store, and he always…
If you studied archaeology, you'd see some problems with the sale of artifacts. Those may have been found in context (in which case they were looted, and the valuable data tied to them lost). I just don't buy that folks have those lying around in grandma's basement, lacking context the way you might find an old Mason…
I haven't had a dishwasher in a decade. Most homes in my neighborhood (my friend's homes) don't have them either. A few years back my partner and I were looking at a flat that had an older dishwasher. It had been so long since I'd SEEN a dishwasher, that I honestly thought it was a second oven for a little while.
This is just misogyny of a different kind - women are delicate, inactive indoorsy flowers, so if they are bruised it is because they are being beaten, not through their own agency. We pity abuse victims, rather than knowing their strength for the same reasons.
I have a "high-impact" job (shovels, trees, etc.) and bruise pretty easy - they're not painful but they're visible on my fair skin. I've had more than one person give my partner that look. I always want to be like, "my boyfriend is a sweetie, my job is a jerk." We're always casting judgement on the wrong people.
I can't do straight sweet tea either, I think my mom just put tooooo much sugar in our tea growing up and I got turned off to it. I love iced tea, but I drink it unsweetened. I do like the fruit-flavored iced teas, so long as the fruit flavor isn't too sweet. My mom thinks those are an abomination.
And that is a MAJOR culture conflict. My mom and I were at the cafe at Taliesin in Spring Green, Wisconsin. She's live in Texas her whole life, I live in Wisconsin.
I'm the furthest thing from a vegetarian, and I will not eat a chicken wing. Any other part of the chicken, I'm happy to. Wing? Freaky. Will not.
Ever forget your keys? Ever forget anything? It could have happened to you.
Indeed I do.
According to Belgian beer law, the inclusion of rice as a cheap stretcher makes it Not Beer. Most good craft brewers stick to the Belgian rules (water, barley, yeast, hops) unless they're making a gluten-free or specialty beer where fruit or another grain is added for flavor. I can assure you the rice in Budweiser was…
Look at Illinois. Then look at Wisconsin. Proof of the power of beer. Look at Wisconsin. Then look at Minnesota. Proof of the power of not having Scott Walker as your governor.
Southwest, honey. You really should travel more.
