Because some people treat people differently when there’s a perceived power differential. They think the person has to serve them no matter what- and sometimes that’s the case- so don’t feel the need to be nice or respectful because why should they? It’s the other person’s job.

Agreed. When someone pays to have you killed, you owe them shit. It baffles my mind that people have expectations that she’d keep her mouth shut out of loyalty and not embarrassing him.

Texas does allow for that, unfortunately. A lawyer might argue though that the stop was completed- it looked like he was going to let her go before he got mad about her smoking- and everything else after was harassment and a violation of her 4th Amendment rights, but who knows?

It doesn’t, though, really. It seems to basically be a course on what constitutes harassment, sexual assault, rape, etc. and that rules or values from the home country that permits these behaviors would not apply in Norway; Norway rules apply.

I know people are going back and forth on this, and the law isn’t fantastic, apparently some places are already advising models to put weights in their hair, but I do think it’s something that needs to be addressed somehow, and at least an effort is being made.

It makes me wonder if he’s actually looking out for the kids’ best interests, or if he is more concerned about not rocking the boat. Apparently to back up the “uh, tradition” rationalization, they also throw in that one day, perhaps, in the future the mom might marry. If this happens, she might take that other man’s name (nooo!!). Then where would the kid be? Essentially family-less, that’s where.

The other lawyers might not have wanted to file the motions regarding the judge’s bias/asking her to recuse herself. Lawyers/judges see each other time and time again; they might not want to damage relations.
