There was evidence. There was witness testimony, gps evidence, dna evidence. All of that is considered evidence. There was actually quite a bit.
That is a good read, but it’s also slightly irritating to me (on a personal level). I’ve been working with 1st gen., low-income college students at a university in Texas for the past couple of years. A lot of what the work they’re doing is similar to work that’s been done with kids regarding risk/protective factors.…
He’s the rich kid that knows everyone hates him (for a good fucking reason) and buys the shit everyone wants so he can lure people in and pretend he has friends. I hope he has a shit ton of listening parties and I hope nobody goes.
Does anything even happen anymore besides shootings and Kardashians? I feel like that’s all I ever hear about.
So, I feel that people like these help feed sexist rhetoric. I mean, women already have to work twice as hard to be taken half as seriously as a man in politics, and then there’s always the arguments that people don’t vote for them because of their competency, but because of their gender. I know that know matter what…
Yeah, so I agree with you about the no-fly list/suspected terrorist lists. That has its own issues (denial of constitutional rights, secrecy, specious reasons for being included, etc.)- but there’s no reason to connect it to the gun control issue.
That is a terrifying thought. It’s like that lady that started shooting at a shoplifter as he ran away. She didn’t hit him (thankfully, cos it’s just fucking shoplifting). I don’t want people deciding randomly to play cop when usually it’s not necessary and most people aren’t trained well enough to do it safely and…
“It kills me sometimes, how people die.” - Markus Zusak, The Book Thief
I suppose I could have phrased that better. Ultimately, though, guns are used for one thing- shooting (one might use them for sport if that’s what you’re saying). Or maybe you’re referring to collecting. But the point is that guns are made to do one thing. The car argument is brought up frequently- cars kill more…
True. There are limitations on free speech, unreasonable search and seizures, etc. Almost every amendment has had some exception attached to it- and I don’t agree with all of them. But they’re there.
Yeah, there are steps we can take that are reasonable. Those are a good start.
Oh, definitely. And the car argument- you pretty much can’t drive anywhere drunk- but there are jurisdictions that have 0 laws about shooting drunk. I completely agree. If someone wants to throw out the car argument, I’m completely on board. If guns were regulated half as well as cars we’d potentially be better off.
Agreed, agreed, agreed.
“That’s kind of a red herring, honestly,” Fiorina countered. “If somebody is a suspected terrorist on a watch list, they can be indicted at any time, and once you’re indicted, you cannot own a firearm.”
Sigh. I really hate this. The thing is, though, he’s put people in positions that if they try to verbalize why his images are exploitive, misleading, and tone-deaf, he can always come back with, “You’re just not supportive of the cause,” or some other such dumbshit and derail the conversation.
The video of a police shooting like this in Chicago could have buried Mr. Emanuel’s chances for re-election. And it would likely have ended the career of the police superintendent, Garry F. McCarthy.
What? Why didn’t I ever know this before?
It’s so ridiculous and they have no idea!!!
The books are well-written (so is the Harry Potter series, but they were geared toward a younger audience and grew darker as he aged) and start off with characters dealing with hard issues. The books are skewed towards older audiences, and there is no magic or supernatural creatures in these books. The book takes…
