I didn’t mean to say that as a rabid proponent of her plan, was genuinely curious.  So thanks for the reply.  Just seems like a lot of easy assets to track out there among these people.  I mean shit, Forbes can do it easily every year, though they readily admit they probably miss a lot of it.  So ok, people get

But... why... why would you add a 7th cylinder.  The in-line 6 is so well balanced.  7 is just nonsense.  Add a bit of displacement, a couple extra pounds of boost, and you have the same power.  The 7th cyl is just stupid.  No?

You can do that, but most manufacturers do not. So, moot point bud.

Exactly. And it just seems frankly unethical to ask someone to liquidate part of their asset just to pay the tax gains on an unrealized income.

I don’t know, I’m all for taxing billionaires appropriately but this seems like a bit of a quagmire to me.

Any new car will disable all electrical things when you turn the key to the start position though, to focus on the starter.

Yeah but it’s real fuckin scary when you feel confident enough to go 40 or 50 mph in a heavy downpour, but you come suddenly upon grandma doing 15.  If she doesn’t have flashers on and isn’t on the brakes, you can’t see shit until it’s almost too late.

Well I neglected to mention to drive off as calmly as you can, for light loads only. But sure, 30 seconds of stationary idling is fine.

Yeah I want an IS20 and stage 2 tune pretty badly. Sticking with my maxed out JB4 under warranty for now (but that will take like, 6 more years at my current driving pace... hmmmm). Not excited about a likely clutch replacement, though.

Nah, I mean, ideally you are correct. But the ECU has to see a somewhat sustained amount of knock before it will retard timing, since it has no idea what octane fuel you put in the tank.  Best case, pulled timing, a bit less performance and mpg until it relaxes back to default timing map.  Worst case, engine damage.

What a piece of shit.  Who would buy this garbage...

Yeah but you are taking a risk if you engine needs premium and you put 87 in it. What if you hit a highway on-ramp with a semi barreling down on you? You’re gonna punch it and ask for max power.

Until you tune it to bump the power, my alltrack needs 93. The GTI and Golf R still need premium as-is, tho.

I think it really depends on the car. On a VW/Audi (maybe most euro cars?) the wipers live down hidden under the cowl.  You can’t snap-smack them to clear ice.

You live in texas. Don’t give winter advice to the rest of us, k thx.  :P

Yes it is a midwest thing, and sorry but your advice sucks. A lot of us working in large facilities have a long walk out to the car at the end of the work day. When you commute in, your windshield is toasty warm, especially down under the cowl. If it snows during the day, it can melt and runs down into this area, and

And sometimes, you need a sweet little calculator with tiny buttons.

Yeah so I think we are actually agreeing here. I definitely agree that normal humans who otherwise aren’t into high power sports cars should probably not be handed 1000 HP to go use at will. See the guy in Florida who just launched his buddies new Tesla S plaid into a house, killing multiple people.

Ok, then going from a very powerful electric motor to a “reasonable” one, will net you even less range benefit. As in, almost no difference.
