Also, I learned that there are a whole slew of folks that legitimately feel that they’ve gotten to where they are in life without any help at all. They don’t see how a teacher given them a bit of extra attention has helped. They don’t see how a free stove has helped. They don’t see how someone mentoring them at their

DEERLADY GOOD TO SEE YOU I MISSED YOU! HOW’S THE BOOK GOING?

As someone who spent the better part of the early 90s with a horrendous heroin addiction (lost our family, friends, and spent couple years living on the LA streets until we got our lives together- thanks to the magic of a pregnant street cat who gave us 6 lives to live for), I am sending this young lady all my love

Honestly, working hard does not always mean you’re going to become a “success.”

Check out Wild Country on Netflix. Amazing.

When the natural order of the world fails to bring the would-be messiah figure as much nookie as he feels he’s entitled to.... that’s how you get cults + mass-shooters.

I think about this too every time I walk pass the Scientology Center near my house.

does anyone else ever wonder if, had you come across a cult leader / recruiter, that you’d fall victim to them? like i like to think i’m level-headed and can see through bullshit, but i also know how vulnerable i’ve been through certain stages of my life — and i dunno, maybe they could’ve sold me on their stuff during

Except conservative voters are the biggest freeloaders.  They have a belief brown people are taking up the lions share of social programs so they want to do away with them.  But exempt themselves, red states seek all sorts of exemption from the laws they pass.

Every single Trump supporter thinks they’ve achieved all their success on their own, with nobody’s help. It’s part of the psychosis, and it’s rooted in low self-image. The most arrogant people are the ones with the most fragile self-confidence.

Yeah, that’s the trap right there: it’s not so much that the rich and well-off don’t work hard. They frequently do, especially among the Top 2-10% who form the core of our finance class, elite corporate attorneys, doctors and the like. Anyone who makes partner at an elite corporate firm has essentially sold off the

That is not a promise, honey.

She’s not talking about free anything. She’s talking about a wholesale shift in how our society operates.

I saw how easy it would be, as a parent, to accept the idea that my children deserve healthcare and education.”

I haven’t heard her promise a single free thing...? I’ve heard her speak about how she would like to do these things, and how there are ways to get these things done, and how broad support will be necessary to get the ball rolling, but I have never heard her promise these things to anyone. Could you please link me

Or worse, explain why the country investing in the education of children is not as important as tax cuts for corporations.

Good, make conservatives actually articulate why they believe people don’t deserve these things. Put them on the defensive for why “kids don’t deserve education” is good policy.

I was expecting her to say that he picked up the phone and went, “Doctor whaaaat!!!” but this is way cuter :)
