Suddenly, the "Theme from 'Mahogany'" is running through my head.

Royalties, real estate, other investments, other gigs out of the spotlight, like, say, Ric Ocasek, who was the frontman of the 70s New Wave band The Cars; I'm sure he gets publishing royalties from the old albums, licensing fees from movies and stuff that use his music, and he produces recordings for a lot of indie

Good accountants and investments, as I alluded to in my first response. Even if their ego takes a hit, a washed-up former star can still be secure if they have a good and honest financial team.

Let me amend that. If you've managed to reach a certain level, say that of a Streep or a Michael Jackson, you will be given several chances more than the average starlet/hunk of the month to rebound from a bad bit of product. But you had better rebound, or you're costing someone behind the scenes a lot of money, and

It is. When I was in that business a little over 10 years ago, in production (I am not a performer, but was a PA/production secretary on some stuff), you never saw people as skittery in your life as the newcomers and the ones who knew they were on the way down.

I thought they broke up last year?

I have no idea about these boys, except there are 5 of them, I know their names, and that they sing a song about some girl being beautiful, yes? Just wondered why for such a cutesy video that 4 of them had a solo bit and not the 5th one.

They don't want government all up in their business, just all up in yours, ladeez and gayz!

He did look unwell.

Indeed, the unmitigated gall. She may never find better!

How come Zayn didn't get a solo?

And who else but Patsy to show Lord Grantham the light, eh?

I'm hoping these kids actually read those books.

I didn't watch any of those shows, either, though I've seen the Cosby clip of them singing Ray Charles' Night and Day on the stairs. I went from tween to adulthood in the 80s, and simply watched less and less TV as the decade wore on.

He's a hot young blond guy acting goofy, and all the other goofy-acting people out there feel validated by watching him. When you were little, didn't it feel GREAT when the cool, good-looking kids at school liked what you liked? Same thing here, I reckon.

Oh, I hope they end the film before the accident. I don't think I'd want to see that, even as pretend.

Let's call it a draw.

Definitely Grandma Lizzie's face, right there.
