Here’s what all good drivers wish other drivers did better

Why did you hate the commute? You had a car you could drive with fun and not have to worry one bit about the electric range. I drive my Volt hard and if I run out I run out. Most of the time it’s on battery and when it’s not it’s no big deal. I don’t understand why people bought Volts to try to avoid all gas use. No

This guy needs to pick up a Chevy Volt - that way he can get used to EV driving without worrying about finding a charging station. Plug in when you can, drive when you have to. Not to mention used ones are pretty cheap and won’t take much of a loss in the year he’s waiting for his 3.

I think sitting at a full stop when other traffic is moving would be imminent danger. You are about to cause ann accident.

The current EV tax credit does have a well defined limit though - it can only be issued to the first 200,000 EVs from each manufacturer. This makes sense to help establish a foothold, scale up battery production and assist with overall EV acceptance in the general marketplace. That count is also helping bring to light

The chrome strip below the window has me thinking GM, many of their midsize cars in the late 2000s had chrome window surrounds and newer models had teardrop shaped headlights as well. I haven’t been able to match it up exactly but the side profile picture made me think Malibu Maxx. It’s also pretty close in shape to

This is fantastic technology. I’m really glad to see combustion engines getting another boost. So many things are leaning towards electric drive these days, it’s important to keep innovating with portable power sources as well. Way to go Mazda! Now, attach this to an electric generator so we can experience perpetual

When I hear ‘Skyactive’ I think “Oh, like Onstar but from Mazda. Maybe it has built in wifi!” Clearly that’s wrong, but I can’t be the only one thinking this! (edit, and so I’m spelling it wrong too, it’s “Skyactiv”. Another marketing error!)

I get it, but you don’t have to be a car guy to know “Dodge” cars and trucks are not “Dodgers”. Maybe he was nervous and mixed up Dodge and Charger, but made me LOL.

Okay... 1) assholes like this SHOULD NOT GET PUBLICITY. It just begs for copycats. 2) The last reported kept calling it a “Dodger”. LOLOLOL. Reporter guy from Texas, are you really not familiar with the brand name “Dodge”?

Most people who even bother to think about shifting to Neutral in an automatic don’t think to rev-match before they shift back into drive, so there’s a thunk and extra clutch wear to go along with the delay in regaining control. Suppose something else happened on that downhill and the car wanted to stall. With it in

But even with a little fuel you’ll still have compression engine braking with 0 throttle. Cutting off the fuel just prevents waste, as no fuel is needed. It’s the lack of air that creates the engine braking.

There’s also the issue with automatic transmissions where you can add a lot of clutch wear dropping it back into gear, lurching the car a bit. If you are really careful you can rev-match before you shift back into D, but not everyone would even think to do that.

instead of descending the hill in Neutral when you know there is a followup ascent, just use the gas pedal very lightly to achieve slight speed increase, and let that increase slowly bleed off on the next uphill.

That crazy winter was two years ago, and another like it just a couple years before that. The issue wasn’t the snow on the roads, it was the snow on the sides of the roads! There was no place left to put it, snowbanks were reaching ridiculous heights making our already narrow streets even smaller, and pulling out into

Yeah, the other issue I see with cars like the Civics is the lack of weight - they aren’t heavy enough to let the tires dig in. Great for economy, not great for snow. Lightweight cars is another place AWD becomes useful in the winter. I’ve always gone for the heavier cars, better highway ride and never have a problem

Sure, that’s true. AWD with snow tires is fantastic! Especially where you are, that’s where I’ve proven my snow tires > AWD statement time and time again. But most people with AWD think that overrides their need for snow tires, so skating around on snowy/icy roads is fine with them I guess. It’s not hate, I just try

AWD won’t help you turn or stop in snow and ice. It can get you going faster into trouble, which is how most people use it around here. A good set of snow tires outperforms AWD on all season tires in bad winter weather, which is the only thing I hear used as justification for AWD.

Snow Tires > AWD

how boring!
