I would love some sort of government standard that says headlights aren’t allowed to blind oncoming traffic. Or... if there is one already (I’m pretty sure there is) I would love to see it enforced!

I’m in my 40's and have kids. Here’s why it’s popular and people watch it - it’s validation that our fucked up family and fucked up kids are actually all pretty normal. I can understand why younger generations would find it boring, and older generations wouldn’t get it.
Hah. My mother had an ‘86 Buick Century with the 3800 (FWD), one of the first SPFI models, no carb to slow it down. It would light up the front tires easily. When I was learning to drive she thought I was going to slowly leaving a stop sign and told me “You know what you should do? My mother used to say ‘Step on it…
What kind of bagel can fly?
I haven’t read all the reference material, but you filed this to HOA, so I’m assuming he is in some sort of community where HOA rules apply. I’m then guessing they made some kind of exception for storing boats, but haven’t made such an exception for planes. Is that the case here? Just want to clarify. I feel for the…
These jokes aren’t going to take off.
It’s quite a shock for me. I used to work with him - I was a client of Jordan’s. It wasn’t until months after the accident I figured out what had happened to him. Until then I had no idea he was a car guy - he was just our web developer. So many things we could have talked about...
Hi Daniel,
WOAH! Real life meets Jalopnik! The company I work for hired Jordan Hilsenbeck and his company to build and maintain our website (how he funded his automotive passion - he was a web developer). We found out a few months ago when they were slow to respond to our update requests that he had passed. I looked it up and…
Thanks. It IS cool! ;) Most of the stuff in our engine is TA Performance, he custom built a camshaft for us and we have custom made JE pistons, etc. A T/A block girdle, etc. That stuff is all still going strong and T/A now makes a replacement block and new timing covers. See my other response to Fingers.
Any EFI system needs an ECU - that’s the brains of the fuel injection. Engine Control Unit - ECU - engine management computer - ECM - all the same thing really. Something needs to tell the injectors when to open and how much, and tell the coil when to fire...
I’ve turned a ‘70 Buick 455 into EFI with an old Speed Pro system (predecessor to FAST). The hardest parts: 1) getting the fuel injectors in - in our case we sent an aluminum intake manifold to a guy who specialized in it and he welded injector bungs into each intake passage and built the fuel rail for it. 2) getting…
Matador > Yugo!
yeah but this one was like 3 years old at the time...
So typical!
I dunno, I had some real shitbox cars early on and always managed to at least put a manual choke cable on them for $10 if the automatic choke wasn’t working. Screwdriver holding the choke open seems so primitive!
The Yugo. A thing of pure amazement.
It probably needs new shocks, but otherwise why would you say it would be dancing? These cars are fantastic highway cruisers. Heavy and stable. Not the quickest 0-60 times or anything, but they cruise quite nicely at 70.
For a car of this era in this condition, that’s a very reasonable price. It doesn’t need restoring, it’s not a frankensteined piece and it can be used lightly for decades to come if it’s well cared for going forward. Most cars of that era have been poorly modified in some fashion, this one is still just right. The…
