I get that - some states you are not allowed to modify the suspension at all, some it’s just a “safety” rule, but I’m wondering if shocks are actually a required thing, or if the vehicle just needs to be “safe” to drive.

Right, but are shock absorbers a technical requirement? (or functioning airbags if that’s the case with this vehicle)
No annual inspections, but do the police have the authority to do a roadside safety inspection?
So, so dangerous. That vehicle should not be allowed on the road. Is there a law requiring shock absorbers?
Narrowest save for me happened while driving in the snow. We were going skiing and had 4 people in my ‘73 Buick LeSabre. It was snowing, and I had too-wide and mostly bald tires on the car (it had never stopped me before). We were on Rt 16 in NH, it’s hilly, a bit windy, and back when this happened it was mostly two…
NP. I really hope it sells for $6000, because that makes my ‘73 LeSabre worth a lot more than I think it’s currently worth. Not that I’m into my car for it’s monetary value, but to replace the car in it’s current condition (not very much rust) would be around $5000 or so, and to replace the motor would be about the…
He does say it’s a 7.5 liter from a ‘72 442. That makes it a “442 engine” although I know what you mean. It’s like saying a 350 chevy is a “Corvette engine” because it came from a ‘78 Corvette. It’s still a 350 chevy and even though it’s been modified so much it just doesn’t matter anymore, the ‘vette purists will…
Exactly!!!
“As I got comfortable one-pedaling it the drive started feeling like a yoga flow. Up, down, up again. It made city traffic feel like taking deep breaths. That gridlock lap around San Francisco in the Bolt was honestly one of the most relaxing driving experiences I can remember.”
Genius on paper, but in real world testing the first engineer who forgot to latch the door securely completely sliced the legs off the second engineer who was waving him out onto the track... then it clipped a post and ripped the door open. The suitcases got thrown out, clothes were scattered all over the track and 7…
That’s entirely possible, I’ve heard that NSTAR won’t allow commercial pass through billing by kWh but I don’t know if it’s a state thing or an Nstar thing.
That’s awesome! We don’t have PMI anymore, but will probably do something similar as far as the financing goes. Thanks a lot for the info.
That’s great! I’m looking to go solar this year or next. Did you lease or buy your solar system? I am having trouble figuring out why I would lease one.
I’m in Massachusetts. Most power utilities offer it even though they haven’t told you so. My experience with NH electric utilities is that they aren’t very user friendly, so you may have to seek it out, but it’s usually there as an option. My local power company actually prefers that people use it - as they put it,…
This is true. I’ve only encountered two types of chargepoint stations - completely free, or pay by the hour. For the pay by the hour stations, they cost much more to use because our charging rate is slower, as you stated. To charge at the slower rate paying by the hour costs almost as much as buying gas at the pump,…
Only a few special tools, once you have your basic metric toolbox setup for most other cars, just order a set of triple square sockets and you can tackle just about anything. Our ‘08 Passat has been pretty reliable overall, with one major service around 90K miles that was covered by a VW extended repair program. It’s…
So wait - is there still a possibility that VW will come up with an EPA approved fix, then fix and sell these cars back to the general public? I can’t imagine there would be any buyers, but it sure would be better than crushing them all. Maybe they can just re-outfit these cars with a gas engine if no approved diesel…
In the Volt I can enter my home electric rate schedule and tell it to charge at the cheapest time so that it will be completed when I want to leave in the morning. It can take up to 4 different rate times in it’s schedule, which covers most of the electric schedules. I’m lucky where I live to have only ‘peak’ and ‘off…
A PHEV or EREV is the way to go IF you have a place to plug in overnight. But be careful with your electric rates, in some places in CA at peak electric rates there isn’t any noticeable savings. If you can charge off-peak though you can usually save a bundle.
