I didn’t say that they’d lose, just that it would be rough.

It’s a shit deal. No officer wants to take a life, and this kid has his future taken away.

Was gonna say this. Philando did everything the 2A worshippers tell you to do in an interaction with cop and still got shot dead. What happened to this guy who is actively disobeying and resisting with a loaded gun at the standby was not going to end up in a good position when his gun was discovered...

ACAB but also

I swear the best thing is probably to put your hands out the window slowly; not touching, but both visible to the officer behind you, not looking in their direction unless told to, and explain that you think it would be best if they drag you out because you don’t want to scare anyone. Crying may help. The fact that

“An armed society is a polite society.”

Laughably untrue

I’m extremely ACAB, but if police body cam footage shows this guy had unholstered a gun, I have to wonder what he expected was going to happen.

US Goverment: “begins laughing in predator drone”

Telling an officer you’re armed isn’t always helpful though. Philando Castile did everything right, and was executed for it in front of his girlfriend and her daughter.

Sovereign Citizen-types are some of the MOST likely people to shoot at cops, especially during traffic stops.

Let’s be honest here, having gone down the Sovereign Citizen rabbit hole, this kid’s future was likely limited already.

“...urge to draw a weapon.”

Sounds like you’re someone who understands that with every right comes the responsibility to exercise it at appropriate times in appropriate places.  Thank you.

I wish all gun owners had the same attitude as you.

Open carry + open belligerence is a toxic combination.

A July 4, 2021, traffic stop led to a nine-hour stand-off between police and a SC-related group called the Rise of the Moors, according to CBS.

I won’t say there is no possibility, but if we assume the holster was the appropriate one for that gun, then the chance of it just slipping out is pretty close to zero (you could hold a proper holster upside down with the gun in it and it won’t just slip out). The fact that he was in a seated position with a hip

Agreed. That's a impound the vehicle, contact someone to pick you up or take you to the station situation. Expired plates are one thing, this guy was clearly having a "I am above the law!" Moment.

Also, if you have a loaded weapon in your vehicle and you are pulled over, the first thing you tell the officer is that you have a loaded weapon in your vehicle.

Cops aren’t going to just give you a citation and send you on your way for driving around without a license in an unregistered vehicle no matter your “citizenship” status.

If you are going to have a gun on your hip during a traffic stop, don’t then also be aggressive to the cops. He didn’t get killed just for having a gun. You also might have missed that the gun was on the floorboard, out of its holster, meaning he either unholstered his gun or had a loose gun available during the stop.
