Regardless of how ugly it looks, I can appreciate the idea of re-imagining the use and function of what a car should be. It’s interesting to think of people using their cars as some kind of hangout spot when parked. Basically its a 21st century conversion van.

I remember the “Bangle mangle” all too well from his BMW tenure. And frankly, I still feel like those designs were horrific. This one takes ugly to a new level. I get the functional aspect to it, but for god’s sake. It looks like a cartoon tugboat drawn by a Manga artist.

Looks like a giant, rolling, lemonade or iced tea dispenser.

I mean, this guy knows about the internet, right?

Oh lord, not only does it have a Bangle Butt, it’s got a Bangle FUPA.

Real world testing. This is why it’s done. Kudos to the companies who are letting journalists in on the process, watching and reporting on what is very much a work in progress.

Well, maybe the car wanted a taco, and was waiting patiently for its turn.

I’m cool with the mid-engine layout, and it looks like the current 6.2 will be an option in it as well. The 6.2 might not be the most advanced engine, but it’s got its merits. The cam-in-block setup means it’ll fit in a mid-engine car no problem, its simplicity means maintenance costs will be astronomically lower than

There was a rumor a while back that there could be up to 3 Corvette variants in the family, a junior Corvette, nee Boxster, -The Monza, possibly w/o any V8 options, just V6 and twin turbo V6's, the “standard” Corvette, -Stingray, the RWD V8 traditional Corvette and the mid engined top of the range Corvette, but thats

“Manta Ray”

:-(

That’s...not as fun. I hope they don’t end up actually using that.

Would be nice to see the front-engine Corvette hang around as a down-market roadster closer in price to the Miata and Fiat 124.

Put your manager hat on, this makes perfect sense. Also lets be honest, it sure wouldn’t be the dumbest possibility. They did make the SSR after all.

Different engine placement, overhead cams, and turbos are not necessarily “progress”. They are just different ways to get the same thing. Camless valvetrains and variable compression engines are progress to me.

I mean, there’s no doubt a mid-engine something is happening.

Would be fun to see GM split the front and mid-engine Corvettes up in a way that the front engine model goes down-market a bit and starts hitting closer to the Miata (although still above it) on price as a more “purist” roadster, and the mid-engine Corvette

It would make sense if the 4.2L is the base engine, the 6.2L is the mid-grade engine, and the 5.5L is the top engine.

Just the rumors of this mythical mid-engine Vette should kill 2017+ ZR-1 sales.

It’s gonna be awesome.

camero was robbed!

Initially, I was completely taken aback by this secret identity of mysterious automotive CEO, but “Mergio”just kept spinning in my head. “Mergio... mergi-o....merge... obsessed with merging... Of course!!!”

I finally saw one in person. It’s definitely better looking in the real world.
