I’m the exact opposite, I no longer enjoy watching movies from home and if I miss it in the theater, I will to be watching it at home (with rare exceptions).

Screen size is largely based on viewing distance and room size, with personal preference and budget concerns mixed in as well. I recently picked up a 50" to replace a 40" which now lives in my bedroom. Because of my living room’s dimensions I don’t have many arranging options that would allow for much larger than 50"

I love the theatre experience. The previews pop, the sight and sounds are top notch, the seats are nowadays quite comfortable, and whoever you are with (or if you’re alone) you’re ensured to be PRESENT for the show. No cell phones, no talking, no commercials, no pausing for the bathroom or pausing to get a snack.

You must have some decent local theater. In my area I goto AMC or Regal. The floors are cleaner, the chairs are more comfortable. And the staff isn’t a bunch of racist assholes that treat every POC like a criminal. For the small local theaters in my area the white customers are usherd in, if you are a POC you have to

I don’t have room for that and even my 65" screen with Dolby 5.1 is no match for a real theater - but I do have to make sure I select the right showing.

I’m right there with you. The theaters in my area are, unfortunately, pretty abysmal, and though I will miss the communal experience of seeing stuff like Black Widow, or Wonder Woman, or No Time To Die with friends...I absolutely will not miss having to see them in shitty theaters with poorly calibrated screens,

Sure. You could always use social conditions to claim “bigger picture,” but does that mean we shouldn’t be able to enjoy going to the theater to see a movie ever again? When will it be acceptable to go to the theater? When racism has been solved? When no white supremacist cop kills a black person in cold blood? When

I seriously hope yall take the much lower engagement rate on comments on each article as proof that your redesign is terrible.  Unless of course that was the intended effect.

Ya, people dumping on AMC and going to the theater in general. That’s too bad, because that’s the best experience to watch a movie. I’m no fan of the AMC chain, but if AMC goes under, it is going to mean nothing but bad news for those of us who enjoy going to the theater to see a movie. When we look at the bigger

In most cases like you I’d prefer day-one viewing from home- but there are certain directors/films I’d prefer to see on the big screen in a modern, fully-equipped theater with good sound. (Dunkirk, for example, was just not the same on a TV.) I bet spectacle films would still do well in theaters if they were

I don’t normally go to movies myself, except for big budget events.

“arent you a little short to be a Storm trooper?”

Gawker is gone. Deadspin is effectively gone. Jalopnik is almost gone. Now you guys are using your links to hijack my audio when listening to music. I’m done. Peace.

So Netflix made a deal with the devil?

I’d like to take this opportunity to talk about that time Lucifer appeared in Crisis on infinite earths because holy shit that was awesome and wasn’t discussed nearly enough on this website.

“Please say ‘the White House’, please say ‘the White House’!”

I knew that women weren’t allowed in bars historically and that some bars had booths with doors so women could have a drink with their male companions without being seen, but I had no idea TGI Friday’s was the first bar to welcome single women.  I have a whole new respect for them now.
