Next time you burn yourself, try it. You will be converted. It works better than anything else I've ever tried, and faster. Put it on IMMEDIATELY after you burn yourself if possible, and leave it on for a little while. The pain will vanish pretty much right away, and it also reduces blistering. I don't have any idea

"And while the survey wasn't huge (1,426 people) and was conducted through social media platforms,"

Basic burn rules: if the burn is on your face, genitals, hands, feet or any joints- you go to the doctor. No screwing around.

I was also confused and intrigued by the mustard ointment thing. I wanted to know if it really worked and why. I used The Google and found the following:

Being mexican american and a kitchen worker I have never heard of this (Plus I hate mustard) but totally sounds like something my grandmother would do.

It's not that shifty, it's for safety reasons. They should absolutely be on the clock if they're still essentially working, otherwise they're just being held prisoner at work, but it makes sense to never leave one person alone in a store with thousands or tens of thousands of dollars at night, especially while it's

My mom works as a school custodian and she has to deal with this policy. The problem for her is that she actually does her job, and does it well, whereas the other employees half ass their work and skip out on shit all the time. Well, when they're ready to go, she has to leave. This means she has to leave some work

Not heard about TheMustard?

You don't use mustard off a sandwich. You use fresh mustard from the package... hopefully that stuff is hygienic enough to eat. I have tested yellow mustard vs. first aid salve on a single burn across two fingers. The mustard finger hurt far less and did not blister while the other blistered and hurt for days. Since

I worked at Lowe's for a few summers, and if someone was closing it was store policy that they couldn't walk out to their cars alone, they had to wait until someone else was done, and so they can go out with them. This was despite the store being in a really good/safe town, but they did it for safety precautions.

Vinegar is reputed to help with minor burns. Mustard is partially vinegar. I'm assuming that's where the 'put mustard on it!' thing comes from.

After so many years in fast food anytime someone is burned my brain automatically thinks, put some mustard on that.

It works! It was always funny to see the reaction of a new person nursing a burn when you tell them that. I worked at McDonalds for several years, and mustard works... I could see how someone might be concerned about this, but as an advocate of mustard, I'm not bothered by it.

This stuff works great for minor burns (not just sunburn)

yea - I definitely think its jacked not to have basic first aid, but I learned the mustard trick working in a kitchen and still use it at home for minor burns. It works for the pain and the blistering. ~shrug~

For quite a while I was "that one guy who goes into a Mexican restaurant and asks for a burger." Then I turned eight. ;)

This is moronic.

Vinegar is good with burns. Just saying. Oh, right. There's vinegar in mustard and such. Is what I'm getting at. Yep.

My dad is in the food ingredient product biz, and no, nothing goes to waste. Not all chicken products are meant for "retail;" a lot of chicken parts go into other food ingredients, broths, pet food, etc. There is little waste in the industrial side of food manufacturing; the waste happens more on the consumer side.
