I am not enjoying this season precisely because of the format. It comes across like an approximation of DR instead of the real thing and i feel like MTV hates the show and wants to kill it.

This season is just… really not clicking with me. Hobbled by a return to a shorter run time, absolutely. But this batch of queens is just not terribly compelling yet, even considering the standouts so far. I’m just finding it hard to care very much.
Especially with the number of queens they have this season, shorter episodes just don’t really make sense. The mini challenge felt like a highlights reel and the maxi challenge in the werk room felt rushed. The whole episode gave me scrapbook vibes.
Really not enjoying the 40-minute format. These reviews are longer than the episodes themselves. Bring back the 1-hour shows!
Almost definitely would have been a copyright issue. We’ve seen that happen in the past where a queen is clearly playing a well-known character (e.g. Sheneneh or Blanche), but RuPaul and the name placard only reference the actor (e.g. Martin Lawrence and Rue McClanahan, respectively)
There is a petition on Change.org demanding the return of 90 minute episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race with more than 25,000 signatures.
It’s amazing how the show pushes certain narratives btw. Because of the show says so, I am having several (light) arguments in reddits and discords as some fans are convinced that Marcia’s problems is lack of makeup and “I don’t know who this queen is”. MARCIA. The power of TV!
HAHAHAHA me! me! and my boyfriend too.
Yeah what they complimented to Amethyst was beautiful, but they were departing words. They really dislike her, as much as Marcia.
oh hello!
How does Aura not know who Bruno is?
Did not comment before because, more than being saturated of Drag Race - which I kind of am at this point with 4 simultaneous shows every week - I was saturated of giving my opinion, as if my take on anything had no weight anymore, as if it was a totally insipid succession of words. Yeah, this was one of the main…
Perhaps the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
On one hand, I can understand DR fans wanting the show to be everything it could be. Though, as has been said before, it was pretty clear All Stars All Winners was more a celebration than a competition. It was quite a different beast than all the other seasons. I actually kinda wish there wasn’t huge prize money…
Retire emotional lip syncs, or lip syncs altogether?
at first I loved the non-elimination format just to hang with all these fun girlies, but I started to fall behind more and more.
Supreme had been supporting new queens in Madrid for ages before she landed on the show - I actually saw her for the first time when I wanted to support a friend’s first stunt with heels and makeup around 12 years ago, and she was so nice and supportive with everyone. And IIRC she was (is) a teacher as well. I think…
Yeah, and I get that someone has to go home (usually) so Elips was as good a choice as any. Though I’d say it would’ve been fair to boot Big Bertha. She didn’t really stand out this week (not as much as Elips IMHO).
Damn Drag Race France is harsh. If you’re going to call out “the cosplay aspect” of someone’s runway look, then perhaps specifying what aspect is cosplay would be appropriate. It’s a hard line to define, but if you’re judging negatively because of it then that judge should define what it means to them.
Kinda reads as a less blatant (and a lil less infuriating) Jury of your Queer moment. A twist that sweeps aside the competition beforehand for drama.
