I find it interesting that over the last two episodes, during Untucked, there has been a lot of mention about how Maddy has been such a great leader, which the edits of the workroom during the show have also shown, but no mention what so ever of that during the judging. I have to assume at some point that will carry

Is anyone else confused by the grade for this episode? I saw the grade first. But, as I was reading it, I kept thinking that the way it was written did not fit the grade? I got to the end and I was still confused. I’m not saying the episode was perfect but B-? That’s a stretch. A- or B+

I don’t think the queens need to be all sexy, all the time, but I think it should be one of the strings to your bow. Violet has done sexy before, Jimbo does it a lot (even if it’s a cartoonish hyper-sexy), and it’s certainly a critique other queens have gotten that they don’t try it. (Season 7's Max comes to mind.)

“Maddy’s look should have been stunning” is the critique that comes to my mind every week this season. She’s always just not quite there. Plus, someone needs to teach her how to look sexy, at least every now and then. Her looks are almost androgynous, which might be okay if it was intentional, but I don’t think it is.

The mini challenge was very funny but I’d be lying if I said the Maddy jokes aren’t getting old. We don’t have to point it out every week.

Yeah, same. Though if they drop comments then there’s not much point in Kinja anymore.

I thought Maddy’s look was one of the more interesting ones (and she was one of the stronger queens this episode too). Dare I say, if Bosco didn’t have an outfit reveal, then her version of a gray cloud was not as interesting.

Said it before and I’ll say it again, AV Club grades rarely add anything to a review and often just don’t make sense.

Not if I have anything to say about it!

I’m still not 100% sure how I feel about Kornbread. The first episode, she was perfect and I was screaming at the TV, “give her the trophy!” but she never matched that high level again. Her ball looks were OK and not only didn’t she stand out during the Tease challenge, but I felt she was floundering and being loud

Doctor: “Miss Kornbread, you will need to stay off your foot for 6-8 weeks.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World corner.

Really, really appreciate you chiming in - I get a little nervous about the sort of generalized impressions I’m talking about above.

I’m from Puerto Rico originally and grew up watching all the local PR comedy shows plus Sabado Gigante etc. And I will confirm that a lot of the comedy is broad, loud, and often times can be offensive / insensitive. So you’re definitely onto something.

Oh, Kornbread was definitely being overbearing in this episode. This also isn’t Kornbread’s Drag Race.

You have me thinking on cultural nuances to comedy; I’m remembering a study from the recent past describing different countries simply responding very differently to certain nuances and features that we call “comedy”. Like - the French having a deeper appreciation for surrealist absurdism, the Germans liking when

I was surprised to hear the judges be so happy that Kerri was wearing J Lo’s ACTUAL dress because these challenges are meant to show the queens creativity and ability to interpret a celebrity but still stay true to themselves. She just looked like Kerri in J Lo’s dress because that’s what she was doing. And then it

I’m just tired of the “I shouldn’t have been on the bottom” trope and I enjoyed seeing her get called out for even though overall I like Kornbread more than I like Jasmine

Her yellow umbrella with streamers look was stunning.

Perhaps? In some instances I think the language barrier is too much for some of them, like Kenya and Lynesha and Cynthia Lee. Not coincidentally those were some of the worst snatch game train wrecks ever
