I had similar thoughts about the Puerto Rican queens over the herstory of the show. One thing is it seems like most (or all?)of them have come from pageant backgrounds and pageant queens are another group which haven’t been particularly strong on RPDR over the years. I’m pretty sure virtually all of the winners and

I thought Alyssa won the lip sync and I like Kerri way more than I liker her. My wife thought it was because off the money gun mishap that she lost, referencing that Ru said if you’re gonna use a prop it better work in some previous season. I don’t remember Ru saying that though

If Maddy had worn the green dress (or a reasonable facsimile thereof), she probably would’ve been in the top so the judges could commend her on finally showing some style. And at the same time, if Kerri had worn Maddy’s look, she could’ve actually put up a fight in the lip sync

To pick up your metaphor, imagine if Surya Bonaly kept throwing her backflips into competition despite them being specifically and explicitly banned? It’s still a crowd-pleasing demonstration of power and athleticism (that may or may not supercede her relative gracelessness given the far more subjective scoring

I love Miss Kornbread with all my heart and soul, but this was a rough episode for her, and I can’t argue with the judges critiques here. I’m hoping that she’s particularly open to Loni Love’s words, one large, funny black woman to another, especially as they were said with, ha, love.

This is me not disagreeing with you.

I don’t mind as much if only because celebrity impersonation is such a central pillar of drag as an art form. Even from its inception, Snatch Game is frankly far more weighted towards comedy.

I’d have to go back to parse the specific dialogue on the runway, but I have trouble believing it’s not just the Green Jungle dress from the Versace retail store. Even the most experienced, skilled atelier tailor would have difficulty trimming that gauzy, diaphanous silhouette from Ms. From-the-Block’s curvaceousness

Everyone in this season is nice, that’s why the eliminations are going to hurt. Sure, Kornbread was out of bounds this week. I’m not going to pretend she wasn’t, but in context it’s clear that she’s in an emotionally raw place and when met with an annoyance that would make others merely roll their eyes, she took

An intermittent, unreliable source of Random ‘pinions:

I think the fact that she was wearing the *actual literal dress* J. Lo wore--like, the same one she wore on her body--has to count for something. I was surprised the judges didn’t react more to that, I thought it was so cunt.

This episode was a rough one for Kornbread; she came across as unlikable and humourless, which are two descriptors I never would have thought defined her from previous episodes.

Also, the runway seemed like such an ego trip. Of course J. Lo is stylish—she’s a celebrity who regularly walks the red carpet, it’d be foolish for her not to be. But that doesn’t mean she’s imprinted on pop culture enough for there to be a runway based on her. It’d be like having a Night of a Thousand Nicole Kidmans.

I wonder how Maddy is doing as a heterosexual man. Do you think she is constantly lost or faking her way through queer conversations?

I really enjoyed the superteasers they made. I actually laughed at multiple things, unlike almost any acting challenge ever (that Deja thumbs up really got me, same with Willow and the meal voucher). The judging though really lost me. Kerri should not have even been low for this. How Jorgeous was safe is beyond me,

I’ll say this. Mama is GREAT on social media. She is definitely a drag queen where clapbacks are concerned. I hope Maddy opens up a little.

People have pointed out before that some of the outfits that push those standards are ones that are never overtly commented on which I believe was the case with the douche dress. That’s different than wearing what looks like an actual pad with wings and blood.

Standards and Practices?!? A queen dressed as an actual douche a few seasons back... Everyone swears on the show, what Standards and Practices? LOL

Except is isn’t random at all!

This episode combined two of my least favorite structural elements of RPDR: bringing back eliminated queens and having a far too long three lewk runway show. In fact the first “twist” was spoiled for me by the episode description on VH1 which talked about a marathon 42 look runway. This automatically meant that the
