“As for the lip sync, it looked more like June lost than Maddy won.”
“As for the lip sync, it looked more like June lost than Maddy won.”
To be honest, I’d be fine if AV Club just got rid of episode grades.
Agree that the runway challenge went on too long. The looks are usually my favorite part of the episodes, but I actually found myself zoning out during the last few rounds because of the bombardment of runway looks.
It saves the person who lost the lip sync, and the person who won the lip sync has already been sent to the back of the stage so I guess that makes it a double save.
The whole chocolate thing seems very rigged. Also, I don’t think it’s real chocolate, which would be the explanation for why it didn’t melt in June’s cleavage. As for the lip sync, it looked more like June lost than Maddy won.
I don’t disagree that I’m getting close to being done, but I’ve personally found Maddy’s drag to be more polished or at least more interesting than say Tempest Dujour or Sasha Belle. Maddy can definitely pull off a lipsync better than what Laila McQueen or Dax ExclamationPoint showed in their infamous elimination. At…
The thing is that he doesn’t bring a unique perspective being a str8 guy n all and i think his imagination already reached its zenith with the marie antoinette look which wasn’t all that original to begin with. He’s not edgy enough to be a str8 drag queen. He’s just milquetoast. I don’t understand why he is doing drag.
We’ve seen so many big girls on the show that mainly rely on their big personality, but Kornbread has by far the most charming personality of them all. Even more than Latrice.
I agree that she is not great, but I do hope the narrative doesn’t become that she’s bad because she’s straight. While I think there are some genuine conversations about straight people in queer spaces, there have been worse performers on here over the years.
It feels like a financial burden for the first group to produce an additional look that is barely seen.
This group of queens really gelled together very quickly. The workroom banter and camaraderie was on point, especially considering it was the first episode they were all together. “Who’s Sharon?” “Sharon Stone!” “Is that one of your friends?”
Is it just me, or is there no grade given for the episode this week?
Maddy is not meant for the long haul if only because this cast is very strong. he needs to start showing something else. I’m bored
Notes:
Willow Pill’s talent performance has firmly lodged itself in my brain. In a good way!
It is possibly the best talent I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been watching this show since it began.
Yeah, this ep was a big ol’ pile of yawn. I feel like the giant bowl photoshoot was way cooler in the producers’ minds than in reality (I know for a damn fact that the agonizingly drawn-out bit where Ru “got angry” was cooler in the producers’ minds than reality). It seemed like the expectation was that the queens…
Definitely thinking about how Disasterina’s sexuality maybe got like 2 minutes and then the moved on because Dragula has done such a better job of representing people outside the cis gay world from the beginning.
Regarding the flats, construction was the reason. Maddy stayed crouched down so that the shoulders of the garment was at the same height as they would be if he were standing up. Not even on Legendary is it reasonable to expect hours of duck walking in heels.
Kornbread, Angeria and Willow Pill seem like one genuine batch of girls.
Could have saved it by playing Heart’s “Barracuda” instrumental and guitar riff. RuPaul would have eaten it up.
