Pretty sure it was a male driver since they tried to use a burnout to impress a bunch of strangers and then lost control.

We averted a mass-casualty event because Raph can be assured they are functional scoops AND functional windows.

I want to know....

100% this.

You should see how much fun you can have with a 911 with a couple hundred horsepower. When are we just happy driving the cars, again? Mine has 350HP and that’s so much more than enough to whoop up on everyone at track days, as the overall setup is superb when utilized properly.

Well of course it is a pipe dream, after all a tunnel is really just a big pipe.

Hate to say it, but I totally see where the driver is coming from. With the large gap left and changing the type of cone from the barrels to thinner cones I could conceivably see why they might think the thinner cones were for dividing the lanes rather than keeping people out of that area. That gap is way too wide.

its often surprising how little damage and injury results after cars flip. I think the 80's and 90's lawsuits for suv rollovers scared automakers into making vehicles that are super safe to roll in, as evident in modern, thick pillars. i was in an accord that flipped. it was not even traumatic - it was a genuinely

That *girl was the winner that day lol. That was the driver’s teammate, Shea Holbrook

A felony though?

Am I the only one who is a bit scared for the general public because of idiots who buy these cars and can’t control them properly?

david, you are my favorite person in the whole world, Bill Caswell is preaching straight truth to you here, listen to him :) The Boom you heard was explosive compression leaving your engine through an open valve instead of producing power

Because there’s enough friction to bind it up or the part of the key bound it up after it rotated a little bit. Im pretty sure this is what happened. Your intake valves appear to open a ways after the piston is down in the hole. I bet its off. Set crank to TDC(not the pulley) and see what the cam and valves look like.

Car fuel can melt steel beams!

“YOU SILLY PERSON!”

You know why that car is terrible? It was developed at the Nurburgring. /JamesMay

Touchless car washes are about as useful as touchless sex.

It would actually be awesome if Jalopnik would reach out to a Ford engineer involved with developing this and ask them what’s up. I have absolutely zero doubts that they tested the living crap out of this and alternative setups, but it would be interesting to hear why this is the design they went with.

This is why it’s a good idea to give the brakes a tap with your left foot about half way down the straight. You’ll push the pads up against the rotors, so they will be ready to bite quickly, and you can check that you still have brakes.
