First, Lena was decidedly *not* right about everything. She certainly wasn’t right about not telling Alex where Ruby was. Alex didn’t lead Reign to them, Ruby did through her own stupidity. And then there were Lena’s politician level twists to justify her lie about not having more kryptonite.

I agree that the writers apparently want Kara to be wrong but they’re going about it very badly. However, I don’t think forgiveness is necessarily coming soon, if ever. I also predict a wedge between Kara and James.

I’ve been a Legion fan since the early 60's and I can’t believe how badly executed this version was. Brainiac 5 wasn’t that bad initially and Mon-El was okay once they got him in a proper costume but this version of Saturn Girl was just awful.

You’d be mostly right if Lena hadn’t sunk to Bill Clinton levels of weaselry to justify her lie about not having more kryptonite.

I think it’s more likely Kara and Lena will no longer be friends by the end of the season. There’s also a reckoning coming between Kara and James.

Thanks. Kara’s freaking out over kryptonite is out of character for sure but it costs nothing to try to see her side.

Nothing to do with “stupid.” It’s the whole point of a disguise. The problem comes when they start having people see through the disguise. That’s simply bad writing.

My usual random comments:

Really, all she had to do was say, “Kara Zor-El.” That is her “real name.”

Lena was keeping the wrong secrets for the wrong reasons. Plus, it’s unlikely she decided to make kryptonite for fun. If it doesn’t crop up again I’ll be very disappointed.

“Backlash” from whom exactly? People for whom political correctness is a religion? Who constantly whine about “optics”? The show can do without them and so can I.

I thought that was dumb because Kara has been without powers before. It just made her seem unnecessarily whiny.

I have no problem with James. He’s a victim of bad writing like everyone else. BTW, does anyone remember how long it’s been since we had a scene at CatCo?

It bugged me too. The controls probably aren’t even labeled in a language that exists today. It doesn’t matter how smart Lena is.

There was a great line from mom Kent in the Lois & Clark pilot about the way the super suit fit: “Nobody’s going to be looking at your face.” If Supergirl had gone with the bare midriff costume from the pilot they could use that same logic.

Depends on who’s doing the writing. In the Silver Age it was like flipping a switch.

She doesn’t look Hispanic and has played non-Hispanic roles. It only matters to hard core fans. For that matter, what about all three “bad guys” being women? Surely that’s “bad optics” too.

It’s certainly possible but I’ll believe it when/if I see it. Until then I’ll assume just three Legionnaires.

Think about it though. They’d have to hire more inappropriate actors, create more awful costumes, and work more people into action scenes and conversations. The balcony of truth can only hold so many people. You could be right but I think it’s unlikely.

Sam has a Hispanic name due to her adoption. She isn’t Hispanic. Anyway, you also have a black (strictly speaking, green) hero fighting alongside the white, blond one.
