I watched the game and he was shredding them, but (1) the OU offense makes everyone look good and (2) the Houston defense also makes everyone look good. I’m sure he’ll be solid this year, but I would sell on his Heisman chances.

Seems worth noting somewhere in here that Houston’s defense last year was god-awful. 119th of 130 in points allowed per game, 124th in passing yards per game and 116th in rushing yards per game. Maybe Hurts should play a team that didn’t cap off their season by giving up 70 points (and 507 rush yards!) to Army before…
Yeah, once you reach the Top of the Top, there are just too many confounding factors. Individual v. team sports, massively popular global sports (soccer, track) v. more niche sports (tennis), objective v. subjective scoring, etc. Like, good luck coming up with a principled way to judge Serena Williams against Donald…
Some real guys to remember in that video. Charlie Garner!
Or if it’s all Polo shit, you look like a preppy asshole.
CADE MCNOWN
This shit looks like a minor league football team logo.
Eye roll. I don’t disagree at all. I’m just saying it’s pretty obvious why they are doing this.
The truly immense self-regard of the Michigan Man is captured perfectly by this nutso quote from the new book on Michigan football:
I mean, obviously there is a field there, but they seem to believe they need another one and I don’t see a place to put one. Do you?
Yeah, if you know where Maret is, there’s not really anywhere to put a field. That whole area of NW is pretty dense and your average homeowner up there is definitely not selling so that Maret can build some fields or whatever.
Thomas Pynchon looked at that name and said “eh, too far.”
I see Zach Woods.
Always good to have someone join the gang. I’d pay probably $100 to watch Brissett and Michael Beasley talk about space.
I mean, the arguably greatest basketball player of all time quit to play fucking minor league baseball at 30.
Yeah, it feels intuitively very right to say “well, wait for the court case to resolve itself,” but, in practice, even small claims cases take months and anything involving lots of money and motivated lawyers can take years. Plus appeals—do you wait for all appeals to be exhausted?
I bought one the other day (though “getting high and playing video games” is barely better than “getting high and watching sports”). Any games you recommend?
I need a hobby that isn’t watching sports on TV. Any hobbies you recommend?
The main benefit of both Sheetz (grew up in Pittsburgh) and Wawa (lived in Philly for three years) is that they’re very easily accessible pretty solid-to-good gas station food, which is hard to find in the rest of the country. Wawa coffee is great, though.
There was something on the Ringer (maybe) the other day about how the As are basically the league leaders in not home-growing players. So maybe this blog should actually be about how the 2019 Yankees are going to be the 2022 As!
