I went to a DIII school and anyone who was over, like, 6'7" was either an unimaginable stiff or the best player on the court. Basically no middle ground. Just being tall can get you to that level, but even giant-sized DI players are pretty good in their own right.
Also, as a practical matter, this...doesn’t actually stop him from representing people? I just read the memo and, although it does ban Paul from “solicit[ing]” clients, it doesn’t seem to ban Paul’s employees from doing so. If you’re a top recruit, couldn’t you engage Paul’s employee with the understanding that Rich…
Is this a native ad or something?
Hard zero. It’s hard enough to do that there’s a wiki page listing off all the people who have done it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10-second_barrier.
This (or really the Russell Martin homer that immediately followed him dropping the ball) is probably my single happiest moment as a baseball fan, a fun memory that gets ground away a little bit more every time I see Gerrit Cole stomp around like an especially annoyed Western villain.
I agree with almost everything you say here, with one addendum. It seems clear to me that there is a small minority of voices on the left that are dying to really go gloves off on Obama. Matt Stoller spent all morning calling the Obama presidency a “catastrophe” on Twitter. If that’s not “crapping” on Obama, not sure…
Yeah, it just seems like a colossal waste of time for a candidate to spend primary season crapping on one of the most popular politicians in the country and someone who is not now, but certainly could become, your enemy.
Another thing to note is that Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel, the Indian guys the Pirates signed because they won a reality show, barely even hit 90.
There’s just no way there are more than an extremely small handful (like, a dozen globally). There are something like 7,500 MLB/MiLB players any given year. Last year, 99 people hit 100 on the gun, which is about 1% of pro baseball players. If this skill, which is intensely in demand and intensely selected for among…
Friends and I were talking about this the other day: is there anyone on earth who can throw 100 who is not in organized baseball (or was recently in organized baseball)? Maybe the odd javelin thrower or cricketer or NFL quarterback?
Bigger than Rhode Island!

Met hardly breaks a sweat catching ball off net.

The Reds are feeling mighty optimistic if they think they’re going to make the playoffs next year or if they think Bauer is the missing piece. The rotation is good, but I’m not sold on Bauer as much more than a good starter who eats innings (which is, don’t get me wrong, very valuable; I just don’t think he’s a Cy…
I’m partial to Great American Small Park.
Their bullpen is a war crime.
