Bravo.

How they found you is very simple: Oscar almost certainly subscribes to some sort of “business intelligence”service (I believe my employer subscribes to one offered by a company called Meltwater). This is basically a very fancy Google Alert. Whenever my employer’s name is mentioned in the news, everyone here gets an

Not what you said, but K.

This is...not true at all? But go off.

There’s a difference between blowing up the Blazers—a very good team that probably isn’t going to win a title, but could conceivably get hot and at least play in the Finals—and blowing up the Thunder—a decent team that (with Paul George) could get hot and be the 6 seed and (without Paul George but with Russ) would

A lot of people overlearned this lesson, but competitive windows are real! Like, this Thunder team was not going to win a title, nor were they going to get close. Looking at last year’s standings, I think, even with PG and Russ, they may well have missed the playoffs this year. Nothing is particularly lost by blowing

I agree with the underlying sentiment of this, but, I dunno, there’s a lot of wishful thinking in here. What, exactly, are the Thunder supposed to do? They weren’t going to win shit this year with or without Russ and/or Paul George. I guess you could basically do the Russ/Chris Paul trade and hold on to Paul George,

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills whenever anyone says “only a few bad apples,” because the saying is “one bad apple ruins the whole bunch.” One of the many maddening things about the 2010s.

I vaguely remember seeing a statistic once that the majority of Latinos in the US had been in what is now the US since before the Mexican War. The border crossed them!

Teej is melting down. Amazing twitter content. He’s so hurt and somehow he’s not the guy getting Russ’s stat line tattooed on his face.

yikes!

This guy is also betraying his ignorance of how signing an NBA contract actually works. Five minutes of research tells me that all NBA contracts have to be on the Uniform Player Contract, which is only subject to limited amendments. In other words, it is not possible for there to be any other legally binding agreement

Strongly agreed. I don’t know if $100m is enough money to overcome this guy’s John Delaney-level name recognition.

And, much like Melo, people will use the old and broken down version to argue that he was never good.

He may not be a Guy to Remember, but he’s definitely a He’s Still in the League guy. Playing for five teams in four years (including the anonymity factories in Oakland and Anaheim) will do that to you.

Shout out Nick Collison, almost certainly the worst player who didn’t die tragically to have his number retired.

This is amazing. Usually, you have to patiently explain to people how corporate or sovereign debt aren’t like household debt and, thus, it’s not really a big deal for a corporation or a government to have a ton of debt. This is, somehow, the opposite: we have to explain to ol’ Glenn that having debt actually matters.

The two people circled in the image below are Erik and Lyle Menendez, who are famous for murdering their parents. They got caught, in part, because they spent a ton of their parents’ money and, apparently, the picture on the card was taken between them murdering their parents and getting arrested.

Who’s the third in the Big Three? Caris LeVert? Jarrett Allen? Spencer Dinwiddie? I know it’s not DeAndre Jordan.

“In the end, the policies of Joe Biden were simply too radical and out of step with the common American...”
