When the whole country switched to driving on the right side of the road, everyone had to change their headlamps to RHT to not blind oncoming cars. They then put stickers on the lens to reduce glare until the week when they would make the change. Headlamp geeks look for NOS headlamps that still have the stickers.

Conversion vans are more rare today with family SUVs everywhere, and I find most of their “improvements” highly questionable, but they depreciate quickly and are highly capable (7 to 9 passenger, 3 to 4 ton towing capacity depending on 1/2, 3/4 ton rating). The driving dynamics aren’t great, but in the northern

Metris is gas only in the US. The Sprinter is diesel, also with 5,000lb tow rating.

With the higher towing capacity for a minivan (over 1,000 lbs more than competitors) and the ability to seat 5 with lots of cargo or do a camper conversion, there’s a niche market for these...but in the USA a clean conversion van might be a better choice.

No but I know an ohm or two.

“you can’t resist me!” (engineering shirt I wore in college)

Who’s a good boy!?

Yeap, engine dynos can look like spaghetti. There’s probably a bunch of extra sensors like thermocouples that won’t be on the production car either.

Do these have intake clogging problems like other DI VW’s?

I love articles like this because it shows how much one can do with a small, underpowered car. Like the original dodge neon with the factory roof rack:

Jetta coupes are pretty rare and have a dedicated following.  Not my bag, but to each their own!

The A2 vws were 4x100, so I bet it’s a goofy adapter. The vr6 a3’s had 5x100, so it could have been swapped, but it’s still small for the 5x4.75” google tells me f body’s used.

Cost and small size. Turn signals require “outage detection” which is usually just the rapid blink of incondesant bulbs because of the reduced draw on the turn signal relay. LEDs have low power consumption, so that doesn’t work so there has to be extra components that monitor the draw of the LEDs to see if they have

Regarding less traffic, it would be an awesome time to do a cannonball run, just don’t want to transmit to potentially a dozen different states....

Man, I was impressed by the Surly Big Easy E assist cargo bike but it’s $5,000:

My college roommates built this hybrid AWD formula:

“I go to Whole Foods for the yoga moms.”

Chasing “modern” does have its pitfalls.  How does a grille like that flow enough air for a towing vehicle?

I bet people are using baby wipes to disinfect surfaces, which I don’t think they will do.

A clean ‘88 GT can be neat! I saw this one in Switzerland in 2019:
