I don’t know much about airplane engines, but I remember one of the selling points of the ground-effect concept was to carry hundreds of troops or equipment much faster than a ship and deliver to a beach or airfield. Reality may have been much different as you pointed out. Maybe they would have been more successful

Lighting Geeks United!

But it can carry serious weight due to the ground effect.

Idk if the would shrink as well as the w201

It would be a neat project to swap the 4 cyl from the CLA into the 190e 2.3 16v

Why are you threatening physical harm to one of the writers for the blog?  If you don’t like what they say, leave peacefully.

Lol, I’m not *that* old but it’s a sailing windbreaker by Gill from when I could go on the water on a regular basis in MD, but it’s pretty mild so it just has a taller collar and not the full SOS reflective patches like the offshore stuff.

Nothing’s stopping GM from making a 4 liter ohv v8 and putting a blower or turbos or a hybrid set up on it.

Something unique (big displacement) costs dearly in Europe in taxes though.

No problem!

I’d suggest buying a battleship board game and giving her half. Then you can play over the phone! “You sunk my battleship!” It’s cheap and thoughtful.

Dat decklid font!

That’s a neat write up, its great they could conclude all of that without modern simulation software or high speed underwater photography. It’s not much of a tunnel stern as I thought, I was thinking more of a negative (can’t think of a better way to say that) deadrise where the prop is at or above the waterline.

i don’t doubt that it could have helped speed but tunnel sterns are best for a shallow draft, more horizontal prop shaft and sometimes the crankshaft too for better lubrication. Perfect for this application! The Atkins family, David Gerr, Jeff Morrow, and Tad Roberts have designed and built a few of them.

I’m *nearly* old, so I do the wind breaker method. Everything into my zippered pockets while standing in line, jacket in the bin.

Ditching the roller bag for a travel backpack or duffle helps a bunch. The wheels/handle take up a bunch of space.

here, here. I’ve worked in manufacturing for over a decade and when I see a Gantt chart stretching out 24+ months I think how much was done in such a short time.  Were standards just that low?  Lack of safety?  Were people working 12 hour days?  Did people take more risks and make decisions faster?  Predating

I think this is a pump and dump scheme by Andrew to boost his trucks resale value! :-)

That ST-205 looks alien.
